Ever do that? I have once or twice and really really enjoy it. One of my housemates is from Ohio and she was saying she hasn't seen enough so I think tomorrow we're gonna get the open top bus around the city (depending on my hangover) and see which stop we wanna get off at :)
The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
Verona??? it's all surmountable

    nah, tours and stuff are actually quite cheap... my favourite, kilmainham gaol, is only about 4 or 5 euro or something like that... it's cheaper than going to the pub for a few hours :eek:

    yeah, I always do. Living in Chicago, there is a lot to do here, so the kids and I end up downtown at least once a week when the weather gets nice. And it IS GETTING NICE!!!!!!!!

    YEAH, 60 degrees today and it's not even midday!!!!!!

    :) I'm jealous... there are so many things that I haven't done in this city. Tourists seem to know the place better than I do :o

    dude thats awesome. I ALLLLLLWAYS tell my frenz that we live in freakin L.A and like NEVER take advantage of it like we should! People plan their vacations to come out here and see the stars homes and go to universal studios, take a tour of the dearly departed, observatory, things like that. Good thread helen! :D

    I loved LA by the way... was only there for 5 days but we just walked around a good bit... tried to walk to santa monica beach from the ramada in west hollywood :D gave up after about three hours when we STILL couldn't see any seagulls, lol. It looked at the MOST an hour on the map.

    absolutely... that's why I've decided to take advantage of the fact that two of my housemates are 'foreign'. I know how easy it is to live in another country and not do anything so if I can encourage them... and in doing so get to see and learn stuff myself, we all win.

    I only work a ten minute walk from the beach and only went the first time the other day :eek: it was lovely though, just wandered around for a couple of hours, taking lotsa pics, and then got the train home :)

    yeah when my ex-boyfriend came to visit I did that! I don't think I ever would have done the fenway park tour otherwise.

    :D I know, I know... we were told nobody over there walks anywhere and they were getting quite freaked out that we were walking somewhere BY CHOICE :eek: :D

    In fairness, if we thought it was more than 2 hours we wouldn't have tried... but ya know when it's just a perfect day and you're in the mood to just stroll along? It was one of those.

    I also do the Chicago tourist thing all the time. Haha. I live right in the city but I love going to the bean and the parks and Michigan ave. If its nice I was thinking about taking my mom in a cruise of lake Michigan off navy pier when she is here. I love going up in the tall buildings to see the views. Its like I can't get enough of the city life. I always lived in the burbs before Chicago and I really missed out.

    It's a beautiful city though... I'm not much of a city person but I loved Chicago.

    we wanted to do one of the boat trips... and I can't remember why we didn't :o think the times weren't right or something!

    well, believe me when i say that i get horrific looks from family and frenz when i decide to walk somewhere by choice! They look DISGUSTED!!! i enjoy walking to begin with but after being in chicago again last year, i REALLY enjoyed the walks. But walking to santa monica is pure CRAZINESS!!!!! :D

    Spent a week in your city in March, had great time, went to San Diego, Santa Barbara up the PCH, Southern Cal rocks.

    the bean rocks. I like to go take pictures of it from different angles. The reflections of the skyline looks so awesome in the bean. Granted as soon as its above 50 degrees there are 20 million people crowding the bean but even seeing all the people out and about is good for the soul.
