The Hawks could penetrate at will against the C's at times during their series. Joe Johnson was double teamed and did not have anyone else that could step up or knock down open shots.

The Cavs on the other hand have a guy that can get to the hole whenever he wants. They have one of the better inside games in the NBA w/ the big Z, and they have very good 3 point shooters.

What does that mean? It means that in a half court game, if the Cavs penetrate it's instant death for the Celtics. Unless they decide to not double Lebron, Gibson,Wally, and/or Delonte will be chillin by themselves at the 3 point line.

Also, I just looked, the only time the new Cavs played vs Boston was in Boston a couple days after the trade on a road/road back to back (Milwaukee to Boston) the Cavs lost 93-87...not bad considering the team was new to eachother and had tired legs.

You dont think the Pistons and the Spurs series last year wasn't good for the Cavs?. ,along with the way the Wizards beat LeBron up last series. I believe the Cavs are motivated. The big 3 did struggle a bit against the Hawks, they havent played together in the playoffs, the Cavs have.
    .
The Cavs have played together in the playoffs?
Lets see some of the key players on the Cavs are who...LeBron, Delonte, Wally, Big Ben, Joe Smith...how'd they mesh together last season in the playoffs?

Do you forget so quickly that this Cavs team underwent a major face lift at the trade deadline which gives this core much less time together than the Celts core which has had a full season at least. Your argument holds no water.
The only meaningful contributors from last year's playoffs left besides King James are Boobie Gibson and Ilgauskas. Drew Gooden isn't walking thru that door.

Experience in the playoffs is 25% player and 75% coaching staff. THe coaching staff of the Cavs will be better suited in this series than ill Boston's. Players play, and for the most part once they get out there it all comes natural to them. What makes the playoffs different is playing 7 games in a week against the same team and it all falls on the coaching staff to get the players prepared.

The Cavs coaching staff is better suited than the C's. To the best of my knowledge Doc Rivers doesn't have much of a playoff history. Also, anyone that thinks I'm full of it can look at the Pistons. Those guys have been in the playoffs and have won a championship, however once Flip came they haven't been able to do much of anything.

The greatest coaches in NBA history are there why...cause they are great strategists? No...cause they had the fortune of coaching great players.
What would Red Auerbach's legacy be had he not coached Bill Russell?
What would Phil Jackson's legacy be without Jordan and the Shaq/Kobe duo? Where would Greg Popovich be without Tim Duncan? The 80's showtime Lakers won titles with both Paul Westhead and Pat Riley coaching them...is this due to Westhead and Riley or maybe Magic, Jabbar et al?
The 80's Celtics won titles under both Bill Fitch and K.C. Jones...was it Fitch and Jones or Bird, Parish and McHale who are responsible?
Is Mike Brown considered a great coach in NBA annals? I don't think so...his success depends on 3 words..."Le", "Bron" and "James".

Don't kid yourself, coaching in the NBA is far less important than in the NFL or even MLB.

Under Flip, the Pissed-ons have reached the EC finals, and will get at least that far this year. They beat the Lakers in the finals under Larry Brown more because of what Kobe did not do (pass out of double teams) than anything that Brown did do.

It's true that Mike Brown is successful because of Lebron, however, he was the one the installed the lock down defense Cleveland used to get to the Finals last year, not Lebron.

All of the analysts know that Mike Brown is a terrible strategist. It was LeBron, a crappy Detroit performance and just as bad Flip Saunders that got them to the Finals last year.

    Where Popovich exposed him.

Anyways, LeBron will get his, but that's about it. This one goes 5 because the C's match up so much better against the Cavs.

I like how every team says they match up well against the Celtics. I mean how did they win 66 if everyone matches up so well? I know a seven game series is different than the regular season, but I just don't think the Cavs have the guys to play with the Celtics in any set. Running, slow, mid level. Anything.

The Hawks were a team a lot of Celtics fans wanted to avoid because they can all slash they can all play high energy, and they have some guys that can straight out shoot when they ge hot.

    Celtics in 5.
    9/7/98, 8/3/00, 9/4/00, 4/15/03, 7/1/03, 9/28/04, 9/29/04, 5/24/06, 5/25/06, 6/17/08, 6/22/08, 6/28/08, 6/30/08, 5/17/10, 10/15/13, 10/16/13.
