I am in Finance at a major TV network - basically my group collects all of the ad sales revenue from the ad agencies. More of a people job than a numbers job - lots of relationship development.

are you referring to my job?

if so they look for a college degree, a major in either accounting or finance b/c you do have to know how to do cash projections, credit investigations, etc. as well as other accounting functions. they also look for industry experience b/c it is very impt. to have realtionships with people at the ad agencies and understand the TV billing and payment and sales cycles. I work a TON w/the sales reps here. I am like an intermediary between the sales people, their buyers at the agency and the accounting dept. at the ad agency. we basically follow the process from sale to payment and ensure everything gets done as it should.

No way, everything was new back then. You encounter so many important firsts while you are in high school. There were definitely things that sucked about high school (worrying about image, stress of the future, etc) but I still look back and think that those were some of the best years of my life.

If you want to make insane money, and take vacations whenever you want to see pearl jam, and only work 5 hours or less a day, this is the job for you! I graduated in 99 with my art degree, and then decided if I wanted to travel as much as I did, I would have to make money another way!

High school was the worst time in my life, college was significant but still grey at times. I know all you youngsters really probably don't want to hear this, but the 30's is where it's really at. I am having the time of my life, single, no kids and doing whatever I please.

I shoudl be a full-time student, but my boss did some last minute negotiations with me and convinced to be a part-time student and stay here with the company. Most days I'm fine it, other days though, I'm sad that I'm not in school full-time again.

  • I am an editor at a press release newswire.

We once put out a wire release that had "Pubic Market" instead of "Public Market" in the headline, and was on Yahoo! Finance for about five minutes before someone at our company called and said, "Uh guys, I think that should say Public." Needless to say, it was a good thing the client didn't see it, although everyone involved at our place laughed our asses off.

This is my first job outta college, and for the most part im diggin' (although i miss college a lot).

    So watcha all do?

We've pullled that exact same mistake in a headline of a publication that we do and it actually got printed. Darn those Pubic use policies!

    Elementary Teacher.

Y'know, in about six months or so I'm going to leave the job I have now, which is software support and pays hella good money, to be a high school teacher.

I'm stupid right? That's stupid. I really want to try teaching, though. I hate computers. :(
