On the high school subject, people really need to stop telling kids these are the best years of your life. Note to all in high school....life gets a whe lot better.

I'm an accoutant. I have to disagree with people that as just wait till you get to the real world. The real world is a cake walk compared to college. I work a ton of hours and I still have more time on my hands now than I ever did in school.

college (and grad school) is waaay more work than work-work, you are right about that. however, school is waaay more interesting work than work-work.

Agreed. As much work as it was, I missed school for the longest time. All I wanted to do was go back. I got over that.

Because it does. "The Real World" (not the show) is SOOOOOOOO much better! Trust me.
Yeah. I kinda felt like I was treading water for the last 2 years of school. The work was banal and pointless. It was like learning by numbers. Now I'm at university I am actually learning my subject properly and don't have the restrictions placed on me that I did before.

Having said that, my final year was a riot of drinking during school time and going to afternoon lessons totally loaded and not doing much work... which was good fun. Kind of miss it now :o

I work in customer service for a mobile phone company, which is my reward for 4 years at university and an honours degree. All the emphasis is put on sending kids to university when they are at school, but i wish i hadnt listened to my guidance teacher and followed a trade. All the kids who he said would amount to nothing as they were leaving school at 15/16 are raking it in while im stuck listening to people's groans about their fucking mobiles. Down with education, i could have started this job when i was 16 and be making a lot more than what i am. The money isnt terrible, but i really hope i get something through what i did at uni as i cant stand the thought of working in a call centre for any more than a year.
People say im paranoid. Well, they dont say it, but i know that's what they are thinking.

I love to turn you on
  • I was a marketing coordinator for a large law firm in Chicago, and I did a lot of writing/editing/etc... of all things related to gaining new business & retaining current clients. So I did a lot of public relations stuff, ads, responses to RFP's, powerpoint presentations and handled a lot of stuff related to client entertainment. It was actually really diverse work and, at times, very interesting. I'm kind of itching to get back into it in some capacity...

Now I do volunteer work as a mom to a 19-month-old. :D She's awesome, and she's the cutest boss I've ever had!
  • I own a small business on Cape Cod. Will be my sixth season this year (boy the time has flown by). Very seasonal but nothing beats not having to work for "the man." :D
Hail, hail the lucky ones, i refer to those in love.
