  • you really can't compare the two. BC is cute and all, but it is a poor cousin to Central Park.
Let's call it like it is...
    lol you just compared them.

The cock-measuring that goes on between Boston & NYC here is so freakin' lame.

It's so lame everywhere. Not just on these boards.

    it IS fantastic!

i also love the many smaller parks within NYC, nothing like a bit of greenspace in the middle of one of the world's biggest cities. atm my personal fave is bryant park. mostly b/c it is my daily respite and at the very least walk past it to/from work, but i usually try to spend some time there in the middle of the day....sooo great!

  • Come on. Do you say that just because being from Boston you're not supposed to like anything from NY?
Because you really can't compare the two. BC is cute and all, but it is a poor cousin to Central Park.

I love Central Park - who said that I didn't?

I was referring to the fact that w/ BC, The Public Gardens and Emerald Necklace - I prefer it overall because it's all linked - great for jogs, bike ride, scenery, etc.

    central park or bryant park?
i know there is a whole plethora of free stuff happening at bryant park during the warmer months.

7:30am? um, yea....just getting up practically. my morning walk by the park in between 9 and 10 AM, depending when i am getting in to work. haha. could definitely meetup for lunch in the park, or just a chat. altho not for much longer, busy season starts SOON! thus right now i try to enjoy as much park time as possible. but hey, i've been enjoying bryant park M-F for a year now...no new trend here. :p

well, i am at WORK. :p
so i don't always get in quality park time....just most definitely walk by it daily to/from work. when it was a wee bit cooler i would always try and get 15-30 minutes in the park daily, but as it's been very hot at most i take a walk thru just to get out of the office. and i can safely say LAST week, i was only in work thursday and did not hit up the park since it was my only day in the office. :D M-W was off, concerts and more concerts...and friday was a big celebration day at the firm off-site. hey, always feel free to PM and say let's meet in the park! if i have the time, i'd be there...i LOVE taking a workday break in beautiful brynat park.

Bryant Park, really? I used to work around that area and always thought that place was kinda annoying..sure, if no other choice, decent place to have lunch on the steps etc...other than that, there is not much to it..the library is cool..but then you just have 42nd street on one side and shitty 41st on the other..anyway, enjoy..

what in the world could be 'annoying' about a park?
there isn't much 'to it'...it is a small greenspace in midtown, that's more than enough. lots of plantings, bistro tables, nice fountain, big lawn for people to enjoy, etc. also lots of happenings - there's an outdoor mini library in the summer, exercise classes, concerts and such. it is a very nice respite in the middle of the city. works for me.

    differing perspectives to be sure.
i've taken a few truly beautiful photos in bryant park, central park...there is beauty to be found in many places, of all sizes.
and hey, bryant park and the NY public library combined take up an entire city block, so not all that small.....just perfect for where it is.

and no worries...i do and will continue to enjoy. :)

I liked the pics you took..just never liked the park..maybe because I associate it with my prior career..I used to walk by/through the fucker a few times per day at times..usually freezing my balls off ;)..anyway, I love Central Park :)..

definitely differing perspectives then. i walk by it daily as well, and i am HAPPY for it. i LIKE having those trees and such to pass by, or to stop awhile, in the midst of NYC. of COURSe it's nothing like central park....can't even compare. however, i don't work near central park :)...so i enjoy what i have. nd yes, perhaps your unhappiness in your past career also clouds your view. me, i am happy.

weird to see this thread.. i just went to Central Park yesterday just to bike around. I've never really been there before, but since i have been biking a lot lately, Central Park was one of the spots i've wanted to go to. did a few laps that added up to about 23 miles or something. was a fun experience but i don't know if i would want to do it again. there are too many bike restricted trails =(

it was gorgeous though... biking through NYC was quite the experience. it's amazing how much easier it is to bike to places than it is to drive. if i go back to NY to bike, i would probably just stick to the insanity of the roads and maybe go over the brooklyn bridge or something.
