I've lived in New York all my life, and I haven't been to central park in like 6-7 years. I went to it this past weekend for a few hours and walked around with a few friends, damn! It made me appreciate NY even more! You walk around forgetting your in a city and then you look up and see this:

I am always amazed at the silence in many parts of Central Park.
It really is such a beautiful place. So rich in history.

It really is beautifull and New Yawkers, Im sure, know that they are really lucky to have such a gem in the middle of their city. When I go to New York, Im gonna spend a few days there. So many movies too filmed there, the history..etc.

    yea true.
you can walk thru one part and have tons of annoying kids and tourists, dog walkers, etc and then walk a bit more and find yourself by a lil lake or creek just by yourself...I like that ;)

    BC - 50 acres
    CP - 843 acres!

But Boston Common is essentially linked to the Charles River which has open space each side for miles (Emerald Necklace is 1100 acres).

BC is the oldest park in the nation. The EN was designed by Olmstead - who previously designed Central Park.

Yeah, the only park in the states that can compare is Golden Gate Park.

Come on. Do you say that just because being from Boston you're not supposed to like anything from NY?
Because you really can't compare the two. BC is cute and all, but it is a poor cousin to Central Park.
Let's call it like it is...

    lol you just compared them.

The cock-measuring that goes on between Boston & NYC here is so freakin' lame.

It's so lame everywhere. Not just on these boards.

    it IS fantastic!

i also love the many smaller parks within NYC, nothing like a bit of greenspace in the middle of one of the world's biggest cities. atm my personal fave is bryant park. mostly b/c it is my daily respite and at the very least walk past it to/from work, but i usually try to spend some time there in the middle of the day....sooo great!

I love Central Park - who said that I didn't?

I was referring to the fact that w/ BC, The Public Gardens and Emerald Necklace - I prefer it overall because it's all linked - great for jogs, bike ride, scenery, etc.

    central park or bryant park?
i know there is a whole plethora of free stuff happening at bryant park during the warmer months.

7:30am? um, yea....just getting up practically. my morning walk by the park in between 9 and 10 AM, depending when i am getting in to work. haha. could definitely meetup for lunch in the park, or just a chat. altho not for much longer, busy season starts SOON! thus right now i try to enjoy as much park time as possible. but hey, i've been enjoying bryant park M-F for a year now...no new trend here. :p

well, i am at WORK. :p
so i don't always get in quality park time....just most definitely walk by it daily to/from work. when it was a wee bit cooler i would always try and get 15-30 minutes in the park daily, but as it's been very hot at most i take a walk thru just to get out of the office. and i can safely say LAST week, i was only in work thursday and did not hit up the park since it was my only day in the office. :D M-W was off, concerts and more concerts...and friday was a big celebration day at the firm off-site. hey, always feel free to PM and say let's meet in the park! if i have the time, i'd be there...i LOVE taking a workday break in beautiful brynat park.
