I guess it's difficult to explain, i get the same feeling if I talk to a gorgeous girl i get so damn nervous  but what can you do, girls have the winning hand when it comes to decide whether they want to go on chatting or get lost :o

And I don't know why, but also it's getting quite complicated to talk to girls these days...don't be so hard on us!! :D
I feel very close to you all now; so close I could almost... loan you money. Really. it goes that deep.

hott girls are so not my thing, to fake and all. give me a cute nerdy girl anyday of the week
Agreed. 9/10 times, a cute girl > a hot girl.

In fact, my preference is slightly forlorn, vulnerably beautiful french girls with short-ish brown/black hair but we're getting too bogged down in details here.

There is a lot of uncertainty when it comes to talking with people of the opposite sex.....both people may have intentions that are 180 degrees apart!

You may be talking to your future spouse, or you may be luring someone to come home with you (voluntarily, I hope!), so the stakes may be high!

There is also the slight chance that you may not think you are in the same league as the hot girl, so hence, you get nervous!

Like others have said, I think that most simply can't think straight when they are around hot chicks. So many thoughts come crashing together all at once that it's hard to filter out the good ones/right ones and we then become flustered.

This is why I believe really hot chicks often go for dim-witted douche bags.
They don't have this mental mechanism that triggers the response most guys have when around really hot chicks. So instead of being confused by so many thoughts, they have a better shot at saying exactly what they want.

There it is. The next time you see a really hot chick (who's probably dragging around her douche-sack boyfriend) you can take comfort in knowing that he's a simple-minded idiot...
Wait a minute, I suppose you CAN'T take comfort in that cause he banging a super hot chick...

    Fuck, life isn't fair.

You must of seen or else have to see The Double Life of Veronique.
An oil painting, though not an obvious beauty judging popular culture, you've acquired a fine tasty taste.

I have indeed seen it. I also watched Kieslowski's Rouge tonight :) A very beautiful woman indeed, whether conventionally or not.

    Is jacob in that?

I though some of his Decalogue films were the most haunting, maybe the grainy cinematography whether deliberate or not added to the sense of unease I felt watching, seemed more real.

EDIT: suppose you mean one o fthe Three Colours.... now I think of it, never really got into those.

yeah she's in Rouge. I agree about the cinematography in the Dekalog. It was definitely intentiona I would think. Beautifully made films indeed.

And to retain thread integrity, bugger me did Kieslowski pick some 'hott' women for his films :) Juliette Binoche in Bleu is amazing and there is the aforementioned Irene Jacob.

For sure. The scene that sticks from Bleu was where Binoche is in hospital and speaks to a nurse/doctor, the camera picks him up through the reflection from her eye. Really struck me at the time, wondered if this has been used before Kieslowki? In the Sopranos a similar technique was employed to a lesser aesthetic effect but straight away it reminded me of Binoche in that desolate(might be wrong here), silent hospital. Think it was where she discovers the unfortunate news.

Oh, so I've well fell out of the thread topic here......Why do we feel nerves when approaching women we're desperate for? the courage to approach is the most important thing, if they're decent enough you won't come away feeling too bad anyhow. "Douche-bags"sometimes end up with beautys because they have no shame and a lesser sense of self-awareness, they keep trying and eventually......
