Brodeur is easily the better of the two, Roy was a hot head and wife beater and cocky as shit, i know my last memory of Roy was him hot dogging against Minnesota in his last playoff series and costing his team the series in Game 7, or when he refused to play in the Bronze medal game in Nagano 98... because he was too good to not be playing in the gold medal game, Fuck Patrick Roy.

Brodeur has put up almost equal numbers in less seasons and won only one less cup plus the guy isnt a complete joke off the ice.

Brodeur is the best goalie to ever play the game, hands down. Anyone who argues that is smoking crack.
What does being an asshole have to do with being a good goaltender? Not to mention I don't think he actually beat his wife.

Brodeur is the best goalie in the NHL today, yesterday and probably for 3-4 more years, at least until he wins goal for the 2010 Canadian Olympic team in Vancouver

    Luongo (VAN)

dont jump on me but i think ryan miller should be of consideration. hes not the best but all things considered. he has no defence, no back up to help him , and simply no time to rest.

He'll get more appreciated once he signed with Detroit as a free agent after next season :)

yeah miller has been shaky as of late but the fact that most of the defence the last month comes from ahl players has been a factor.

Toronto as a whole has been doing great . Toskala was amassing last fri and sat against the sens.

haha yeah that seems to be the norm in buffalo . i think from a fans stand point theres no way u let miller hit the market ... give him lindqvist kind of cash maybe a lil more.

That argument doesnt fly with me, Brodeur has been Hart Trophy worthy the last 3 seasons without Neids/stevens and danekyo and 2 new coaches systems, hes also won the last 2 vezinas and should win again this year without the trap system in place.
True, but the Devils are still much more defensively oriented than any team Roy has been a part of. The Avs did have some very good defensemen as well but they were much more of a run and gun team. Like I said before as well, the East is really is weak as well.

has a lot to do with it actually, he was probably a crappy teammate and very unsportsmanlike, look no farther than nagano 98 for proof of that, when youre talking best ever stats arent the only thing you take into consideration, Brodeur has intangibles that Roy doesnt, like being a great teammate, not a show off and being a natural leader on and off the ice.

yeah we kinda have a sub context of who is the greatest of all time going on as well, im sticking to my guns though Brodeur is the best ever which means he is the best current, followed by Luongo(current).

Off the ice-bs doesn't detract from his actual performance as a goaltender. If you want to make a case for who was the greatest team player ever, you'll have to make a new thread.
Not to mention Roy shouldn't even be mentioned in this thread.
  • Brodeur.
  • I know that nobody will agree with me on this one, but Fleury is finally showing why he was the overall number one pick in 2003.

Since he has come back from his injury there hasn't been anyone better, so RIGHT NOW I go with him.

Plus, since he just beat Brodeur 2-0 I had to sneak it in after he was mentioned :D
