I'm planning my trip and I need any little tidbit you might be able to impart.

Travellers and locals please apply here! :D

I'm definitely needing some help in the LA department, Seattle is coming along nicely but every little bit helps.

Anybody know any good hostels/hotels? Anywhere I should avoid?

HOW does one get to Disneyland? :p

What's a must see and a must avoid at all costs? :)

Any help is much appreciated thanks. :)

You wanna go to Disneyland? I'll get you to Disneyland as I live about 10 minutes from there. Although it's freakin packed during the summer and you can't get a whole lot done in one day anymore. Oh, and Senrock is out here, so it officially makes us the kick ass place to be.

well let's start with when and for how long will you be here? :)

I suggest you stay away from Chapman University, I mean Chapman High School, that's where all the....oops, oh hey CB! :p

Yeah, timing info would help, then we can get the ball rolling.

Well I'm not sure, I mean I'm just trying to find out how hard it is to get there and yeah, packed doesn't sound good, BUT it's DISNEYLAND!! :D

So I'm thinking if I can squeeze a day in there I should. And the studios. I always wanted to go there. Corny I know but that's me. :)

hahahahaha......ya know when i decided to go there my friends asked me where i was going and i said chapman and i got blank faces....so i said it's near disneyland......from there on everyone including myself said i was going to college at disneyland....:D

It's not that hard at all to get there. If you're actually staying in Los Angeles it's about 30 miles down the freeway, which depending on traffic will take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour+ to get there. However the good thing is that there's always a lot of shuttles that will drop people off and pick you up from disneyland. Before you book a place you can call around hotels and see who offers shuttle service to Disneyland.

If you're staying in Anaheim or a surrounding area, then Disneyland is a very easy trip.

Well I think, and it's not confirmed yet, but I think I can get a 17.5 hour sardine flight via Auckland ( Don't you just love Frequent Flyer points :D ) on the 4th September that will get me there on the 4th of September. Love that skipping a day bizo!

Then fly to Seattle on the 7th. Then back to LA on the 21st for a couple of days. :)

LOL, well that sounds about right. I was recruited to play basketball for them, and granted I lived about 15 minutes away at the time, and when people found out that was one of the schools recruiting me I got a "I had no idea they even had sports there."

Cool!! That's the word I wanted to hear shuttle!!! :D

So it's only 1/2 to an hour to Anaheim? Excellent!! :)

I won't have a car and I know that LA is a car kinda city. :)

m'kay......end of the first week in sept.....well hopefully most schools will be in session but disneyland might be a zoo...

since so cal is so vast, do you have any other ideas as to what you want to see cuz then we can give you a central place to stay :)

Ok, so I need to think long and hard about Disneyland then? Be stuffed I'm torturing myself with the screaming hoards during school holidays!!

Well apart from having a meet up and catching up with you folk (and that means you too t. Don't be trying to weedle out of it, I will hunt you down if I have to! :D don't be scared! :p ) I really don't know what I want to do aside from maybe seeing a studio. I don't have a lot of time, so is there MUST SEE things? I just figured if I found something central that I could walk to most things, that wasn't too expensive, I could just wander about and poke around and see what I could see. :)

Seattle is my favorite place on earth. Check out Ballard while you are there, on Ballard Ave itself for tons of live music in the pubs/taverns. West Seattle has Alki Beach.. a kick ass breakfast or lunch can be had at Alki Cafe. Anywhere along the west side of West Seattle is fun, too.. you can get down to the beach at many places. Lincoln Park is a nice walk and has a staircase that goes down to the beach, if you don't mind the hike back up!

I'm just a frequent visitor to Seattle, so these are the things I've found enjoyment in while out there.. Not a local, though I'd love to think of myself as a seachild!

    Peace and have a blast!

Hey Seattle Folks - I think we can manage a Fado's trivia night if Jeanie is up to it.
Walking can be a real trip

    the history is really cool.

but it was almost like i had heard the tour guides words word for word on a history channel special once. and being down there really didn't inhance anything.

i believe my wife is ordering some books on seattle history...looking forward to them.

Excellent!! Sounds like my kind of thing. I remember a girlfriend telling me about it years ago. That she'd done the tour when she was over there. I'd completely forgotten about it till you mentioned it. Bad tour guide aside, I think I have to do that and for $15 bucks I can put up with a crappy commentary. :)

I am not a fare judge or a fare jury on the L.A. bit.
Basiclly all I know about L.A. is shitty stuff.
That doesn't mean it is written in stone to be shitty.
It means that driving a 53 foot trailer through L.A.
flippin blows quite a bit, exciting, nerve-racking, thrilling, tiring.
Confusing shit trying to find an address in that shit hole.

Jeanie, in the smaller hours of the early morning you may find yourself in the worst parts of the city, which can be a good time when watching all the stupid shit that's going on.
Just becareful and don't go lookin for trouble and you'll be fine.
I just don't see Jeanie @ 3am lookin for trouble in some darkened alley-way of L.A.
