my dog pulled a stunt when i was at the fishmarket one day.....i was talking, while he saw his chance to snatch a haring or five( you know, the fish the dutchies eat raw)
How the hell could i have known my dog would actually like raw fish?
I was relieved to see that the owner of the fishstand had a sense of humor and laughed about it....and send us on our way, Stanley being a bit nauseous, me getting the fuck of the market....
Wow, that is one good looking dog, i just love those big pointy ears and those eyes, no wonder you spoil/love him to pieces he's such a beautiful little boy!!!!
I was gonna comment on one particular picture you showed but they are all so good i cant single one out, how lovely is he at all????? i bet you're like a proud mum when people comment on how nice he is aint ya, i feel that way when people say nice stuff about mine : )
thanks for the pics
You're welcome! I love showing him off, coz he's just such a beautiful fella really and a great personality. I think it was love at first sight that day he wandered into my yard, well after we'd squared off at each other rather half heartedly!! But yeah, people do tend to take to him. Those that aren't terrified he's gonna eat them.
Now if I could just convince him to leave my shoes alone!!!

Oh my god Linda!!! How embarrassing!!
But I'd bet any money Lukin would do the same!! It never ceases to amaze me what that dog will try to eat, so I'm sure herring would be no contest!

hee hee ta, the little black one is Maggie or mags, mooghead, moogie moo, moo head etc....
the boxer is inventively named Rocky : rolleyes :
im sure they would all be great pals, aaah i can picture em all legging it about in the park now all happy together : D
Ah yes! Doggie nicknames!!
Lukey Pooks knows all about them! It's a good thing Pookins comes to pretty much anything I say! AND I can always get Buckethead's attention by crackling any kind of food packaging.
you need to put it in front of him and when he goes for it you claim it.....least that's what cesar says.....i'm fortunate that norm doesn't chew
is he the dog whispherer?
also, unless you catch your dog IN THE ACT...scolding him/her afterwards is a moot point. they have NO idea what you are scolding them for, so while you want to....don't. it's best to try to keep tempting items out of reach, and when they are within reach, that you are aware and watching.
sorry about the shoes jeanie.
my dear ig, little pug that he is, is the most voracious chewer i have ever owned. he has ruined more of my throwpillows..... good thing he is so damn adorable and lovable.

Well considering I caught him with the half dead shoe, (can you believe he chewed out all the wonderful pillowy inner sole????) and he was still chewing away on little bits of the pillowy bit like a cow with cud, he knew full well that I was cross and why. But generally I tend to only discipline when I catch him in the act, but this was close enough to it I think. He's pretty smart I think and generally tends to know right from wrong. I think yesterday was just a slight blip on the radar. But yeah, you're right dream, no good telling him off after the fact usually and all my shoes are safely locked up in the cupboard now.
Yeah, me too but they're shoes I guess, although it is hard for me to find good comfy shoes so I'm mourning their loss a little. Maybe I can get an in sole for them and just wear them up the farm now, we'll see.

A throw pillow???? How is that even tasty???? Don't it just drive you nuts when you're cross but they're so cute you don't know whether to laugh or cry?
is he getting enough exercise? he could be bored...:)
then again, i could be talkin' out my ass so.....: p
No he's not getting enough exercise but until he learns to like walking outside when it's raining I'm really not sure what he wants me to do about it.
If he keeps this up he's gonna find himself in one of them dodgy doggy raincoats all dressed up like a fool and getting his paws wet!!!

well who's in charge here?!?!
norm is not a fan of the rain either but he just has to deal with it :D
Maybe he's bored? Or losing his hearing (ala Ladybird Hill on King of the Hill)? Charley and Remy started wrecking our bed while we were at work. We have one of those memory foam mattress pads, and one of the clawed their way into it and left big gouges in it. They're bored, we think...despite the 10 billion expensive chew toys...we're thinking of doggy daycare a couple of times a week and at least one big long bike ride per week.
But Charley was particularly bad this weekend and cocked his leg all over my new, just out of the house for the first time, Laird Hamilton SUP board...I guess it's now my SUPee board. For sure it's better to be pissed off than to be pissed on (and I've been saying that since I was in grade eight, not because Ed said it once)...

Oh he's bored alright. He keeps coming in and flopping down at my feet and letting out a huge sigh.
But I throw the ball for him and tug on the other end of the chew rope and when there's a break in the weather I play chasey with him in the back yard. And there's chew snacks and cuddling on the couch watching tele and all kinds of hugs and kisses during the day. He's got toys. I'm really starting to think he's just spoiled perhaps?

We do that with our mutts, but apparently they like to be outside their yard and having new experiences...our yard is fairly large and we chase them around everyday and throw "bagels for them", but the need to be out of the yard. We didn't have this problem at our other place because it was in 200 acres of undeveloped forest land...So they were out all time chasing rabbits and field mice, etc. Now, of course, a lot of that land is developed and other parts are impossible to get to....
but yeah... nice big runs is what dogs like....and maybe some swimming...'cept Charley cant swim and it always ends up in a big rescue mission...and other dogs laugh at him, cuz, well, he can't dog paddle...
Teething should be well and truly over by now, shouldn't it??? : D
I guess not:D You have to show the dog you're dominant... according to the dog whisperer.;) Then again, all that guy ever does (atleast in the episodes that I've seen) is just take the dog for a walk His big secret is that he walks ahead of the dog instead of letting the dog lead the way. There... that should solve everything:D
Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.
Haven't read the whole thread, but as an owner of 6 cats, all I can say is its just like kids. If you don't want animals to damage something, put it out of their reach, like put your shoes in a closet they can't open.
