A lot of people did. People are up in arms over the deposit now too  Some people thought the bottles were better for the environment.

So my beloved little homeland/province made the weird but true section of the New York Post :D:D

    http://www.nypost.com/seven/05052008/news/weirdbuttrue/weirdbuttrue.htm

For years when people went to the mainland they would bring back cans. I talked to my mum tonight and she said people were having can parties... couldn't even keep the stuff on the shelf. :o

I swear it isn't as backwards as it sounds :p

Wow what an interesting and funny story. :)

They did but you got the whole deposit back... but now with cans you will only get part of your deposit back. Also they charge you for your recycling and THEN sell the items off island. Oh well.

The Pepsi Bottling Group bought out Seaman's a few years back but probably just a matter of time before that downsizes as well.

can you canoe up the Atlantic to PEI? Yes, canoes...ain't got the money for a boat.

I got shitloads of beer cans near my garbage. :p

:D This is starting to sound like the famous Beer Can Regatta and Henley On Todd where the boats are made of cans. :D

Perhaps PEI could put the empty cans to the same good use? :p:D
