I was just curious, who stays active here and with what. I know life took over for many of us with jobs, families and responsibilities and it makes it a bit diffiult to engage in stuff these days so tell me what you used to be involved with.

my list:

grew up playing ice hockey my first 10-12 yrs from Toronto to NY then switched over to street hockey or roller (inline) hockey whatever.

Played basketball for my school for about a yr but wasnt a big fan..nowadays just play streetball with the fam and fellas.

I love getting the crew together esp in the winter for some tackle football in the snow..if theres a lot of snow obviously. If not then we just stick to 2 hand touch or flag

and I play alot of handball. Big NY thing cause theres walls in just about every park and keeps my cardio active. Been playing that since I was 8. Cheap too! All you need is a dollar for a ball and a wall and it does wonders keeping you in shape :D

other than that maybe a lil volleyball here and there at the beach in the summer ;)

here's to hoping maybe we can get some of us from here to hook up and fuck around during a tour or some shit. Oh and no trash talking

cause I don't do that. Play nice, lol :D
Aah, fuck it, I’m just gonna go home, turn on the fuckin’ TV...
Watch the nightly news and drink a beer...

I still play ice hockey (and I am an old guy by this boards standards - 40). Biking is a sport, I ride as much as possible when not traveling for work. Dirt and paved -- I love riding bikes. Running and lifting weights to stay in shape too. Bottom line, mix it up to keep exercise and staying in shape fun.
    drive less - RIDE MORE!

I played football (soccer) for 11 years. I started when I was 6. Then when I was 9 or 10, I started with gymnastics. I quit last year due to injuries but I continued coaching a group. When I was 15 I went to a special sports school. I had 6 hours of sports per week; soccer, gymnastics, handball, volleyball, swimming and athletics. We didn't have every sport every week. Anyway, I had to practise a lot so I went running a lot and swimming. I hated swimming and I sucked at it... I think I spent at least 5 hours/week taking swimming classes that year. I now love it and swim regularly, at least I did. I have a rotator cuff injury right now but it should be completely healed in a few weeks time. I had to stop with the sports school due to a busted knee. It's still not functioning properly but it's a lot better. I hope I can start with aikido in two weeks. I'm also eagerly awaiting the day I can start swimming again, which should also be in about two weeks. I play a lot of sports with my friends, basketball, handball, volleyball, soccer, football, badminton or running. I also took ten classes of street dance.

    And chess.
    THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

  • I played everything when I was younger - baseball, soccer, golf, hockey and swimming. Swimming eventually took over and I swam in high school and college.

I joined a baseball league this year after having not played baseball for 13 years and it was awesome. I am starting the Fall ball league this Saturday. I plan on playing every year now.

I played just about everything but I really loved football and basketball. Never could get into baseball though. Too much standing around. I like to run all over the place and cream the occassional mofo.

Since then, nothing. I think I used up all of my energy back then, and now I'm just resting up from it :)

Ahh I loved my bike, bmxing/dirt biking was tons of fun. Then I hopped on a yamaha and never looked back. :p
  • Growing up I (luckily) went to a school that liked to vary the sports we took part in, so I did pretty much everything from rugby to skiing.

I used to play squash with my Dad in my teenage years. I'd like to start playing again but due to an injured shoulder, it's not possible at the moment :(

I LOVE mountain biking and have done it since I was a kid. I only stopped biking in January because I moved into my friend's spare room and didn't have space to store a bike (also, shoulder problems rearing their ugly head) :( I'm hoping (when I get my own place) to get a Cannondale and get riding again :D

I've ran a couple of charity runs. I've done a half marathon and The Race For Life. The idea of running again interests me and I think it's a great idea... until I actually have to do it :o I need to get my fat ass in gear...

Oh and I swim at least once a week.
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

While in the islands....Cricket and Soccer

In Boston.... Ice Hockey, Baseball and Basketball eventually one year college basketball.

MD/DC...Softball and traveled the east coast down to Florida to play. Played up 5 days a week on 5 different teams. Sort like a hired gun to play third or to pitch and anywhere on the infield. Some fast pitch softball too.

Retired due to a bad knee and foot. However like Lance I'm coming out of retirement next year to play in Florida.

Oh I almost forgot my High school champ in Boston at Cambridge/Ringe High in table tennis. Lots of Cycling too both mountain and road.

  • Growing up I played basketball and football constantly, mostly basketball, but I was always doing something athletic.

In school, I was a pretty good basketball player, but I had to stop playing "competitively" due to a medical condition. But that resulted in me focusing more on running track and cross country and I'm glad for that. We won a few state championships, narrowly lost a few more, and I received many individual honors.

Now, I do absolutely nothing except 12oz. arm bends
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

There are a bunch of men's club leagues and I'd still be playing it if I didn't tear my ACL in my last game of college in my senior year.

I didn't play it until college and it was a great activity for guys who wanted to play a sport but weren't big enough for college football. Women's rugby is also really popular here. Two of my friends from college actually played for the US National Women's Team.

There are a few high schools that play rugby and its increasing in popularity.

Personally, I loved playing it more than football because big guys actually get to touch the ball and score.

I'll never forget scoring against Penn State in a monsoon when they were the number 2 team in the country. Of course we lost 41-14, but it was still a thrilling moment for me.

Yeah, it's sloooowwwly rising. Actually I think the Super League is going to start getting funding from the IRB and some investors, including Setanta, to try and get it some more television exposure in the states.. ALA the RSL championship on ESPN2 and a few matches on ESPN Classic. But it is getting bigger. There's some good leagues like the Super League and Division 1 club teams. If it wasn't for my 2 dislocated shoulders(that's what I believe it is), I'd be playing this season.

By the way, are you looking to play or something? Cause there's actually a bunch of teams you could hook up with in the northeast.
