They hinted that he was a childhood friend or something, but I don't think they ever officially linked them that far back.
They may have made him his father for a one-off series, or unrelated time line thingie, but he's not Logan's pops.
Not sure how Schrieber will do as Sabretooth, but should be decent at the worst.
[edit] Chris Claremont had meant for Sabretooth to be Wolverine's father, though this was disproven by subsequent writers. Claremont, when asked what he had intended to be the relationship between Wolverine and Sabretooth, stated:

Father and son. That's why Sabretooth always considered Logan "sloppy seconds" to his "original" / "real deal." The other critical element in my presentation of their relationship was that, in their whole life, Logan has never defeated Sabretooth in a knock-down, drag-out, kill-or-be-killed berserker fight. By the same token, on every one of his birthdays, Sabretooth has always managed to find him, no matter where Logan was or what he was doing, and come within an inch of killing him. For no other reason than to remind him that he could."[9]
In Wolverine Vol. 2 #42, tests done by S.H.I.E.L.D. confirmed that Sabretooth and Wolverine were not father and son.

An interviewer asked Paul Jenkins if the character Dog Logan, a character from Wolverine's early life, from the limited series Origin was Sabretooth. Paul Jenkins said he had not intended it to be him, but said he wouldn't have a problem with another writer doing it later. [10]: from wikipedia... guess you're right ;)

Dog Logan is who I was thinking of when I said 'childhood friend'. I didn't know they officially debunked the father and son thing though.
Sabretooth is quite dead in the comics now anyway ;)

Punisher def and mainly because he's got no powers..he's just a sick character. The othere arent bad. But as far as relating to a character or whatever Wolvie cause of the canadian thing, Spidey cause he was kinda nerdy which I have a tendency to be and other aspects of his personality and loved his abilities and storlyines and Punisher cause of the twistedness in him

I'm trying to avoid all trailers and info, and going in with my own expectations.

Punisher and Wolverine are similar in that they don't just hurt people ;)
I also have the original Wolverine vs Spiderman comic and it is pretty good.

exactly, they have such a sick mentality..hearing War Journal the Punisher sequel is supposed to be darker this time. Thomas Jane was a lil bit too much of a pus for me in the 1st one..hell even Doplh Lundgren was more of a badass in that 80's one! lol

got a box full of comics back home in Greece...cant even remember what I have

petrocs...think the last one I went to was like 92...been wanting to go again forever and keep missing it :(

I actually liked Tom Jane as the Punisher. I hope the new guy does at least as good.

I am a Tom Jane fan, yep.

Travolta wasn't bad at all. Neither was Will Patton.

Edit - Sounds like the budget for the Punisher's sequel is drastically cut, so don't expect much. Maybe they won't be able to afford the skull again (poor Dolph :p)

    It's also a reboot, not a sequel.
And Wayne Knight is playing Microchip? hahaha, now my expectations are high, despite the phrase 'straight to dvd' being associated with the movie!

The straight to dvd is basically blog type rumor.
Got the cast from wikipedia. One of the director's said the script is bad, so hopefully they redo a lot and give it some money.
