Next year the old Black and Blue rivalry from the Norris division will be at full force.

I'd call them the "no more expansion and no relocating" divisions

I know what you mean the hockey was so good in the 80's becuse you had around 10 less teams .....and all the teams were in hockey markets for the most part!

19 days till preseason and i can't wait... going to be a good year to just watch some hockey. My team isn't going to do much but it'll still be fun to watch them progress (play hard and i'll be happy guys). I'm going to do an early prediction of the same finals as last season, with the wings repeating.

    As for news...
apparently the wings have all but signed Chelios to a 1 year extension. This dude is crazy, will be playing in the nhl until atleast 48 years old. Insane!!!

    edit: Go Leafs Go

I agree with you about the Leafs...and for the record they are my team too. I am curious to see how we develop and gel as a team. I'm annoyed that it looks like Stajan is going to be our new captain though. Otherwise, should be an interesting year.

One team I think you should all watch out for...not saying they will win the cup, but they are going to be pretty good this season...is Chicago!! I think they will make the playoffs this year...maybe even second or third round if they stay healthy.

Who do you think should get the C?

Hmm I honestly don't know. I have heard that Stajan is an alcoholic off the ice and thats my biggest problem with him having the C. A captain has to be a leader off the ice too and I'm not sure Stajan is ready for that yet.

I have heard Kubina's name mentioned at one time...also Kaberle might be a better choice too. (tho dunno what either are like off the ice).

also Kaberle might be a better choice too. (tho dunno what either are like off the ice).

I don't know, Kaberle is so quiet and passive, I don't think he wants to talk to the refs constantly during the game like a captain is supposed to do

    Agreed. Good defensemen, bad captain.

At least he is a good defensemen. Our captain is Eric Brewer. Terrible D-man and an even worse captain.

Not a true leader on the ice. Stays quiet with the refs and isn't a real strong locker room leader either.

Montreal is outta the Mats Sundin sweepstakes...traded a 2010 second rounder for Robert Lang.

I haven't heard that about matt, but it is possible. From what i've heard, matt has great leadership and is a good guy in the dressing room, that's why i could see him getting the C.
I don't think it's going to pavel 'cause i figure he's gone at the trade deadline or next summer, so there's really no purpose to give him the C.
I could see Kabs with it but i've heard he is very quiet in the dressing room, and he doesn't really seem like a guy to speak up about something. Really that's my only problem with him becoming captain.
I really hope we go this year without a captain, I think somebody has to earn that role and nobody has appeared to do it.
2 more guys that come to mind are Steen and Mayers. Steen is going to be a leaf for a long time to come, the only thing i question are his leadership ship skills.
Everything i've read and heard about mayers says he is going to be the leader of this team in the dressing room and will stand up for his team. I doubt he gets the C, but it is a possibility.

agree completely.... we need more canadian teams, and all 3 you mentioned could support a team alot better than some of the american teams
