I have a great plumber, however, he brings a boombox into my home when he's working and listens to nothing but conservative talk radio. He does great work and he's really affordable but I still feel as though I am letting myself down by not smashing it over his head.

It's because of conservative talk radio dipshits that people in this country still believe that Iraq had WMDs and was involved with 9/11.

and I work with children diagnosed with autism and can tell you that 99% are not parenting issues...

perhaps you could try and be more critical of your boy savage...

I don't think parenting has anything to do with the behavior of autistic children. Glad we agree on that one.

Getting back to the thread topic, I also listen to Armstrong & Getty
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.

Um no, that would be stupid people's fault........I wouldn't blame talk show hosts for it. Granted there are many whack jobs on the radio but you have to be stupid to believe half of it.

    Is he still on Talksport?
he does the 10-1 evening slot occasionally, but it's often the tory political broadcast Collins now that he's a member of Westminster Press Gallery and spends his days loitering round the Commons.

yeah, Collins is on during the wee hours....suit you Fins. Occassionally he sits in on the mid morning show for Gaunty (which is always a welcome relief).
Talksport is my listen of choice throughout the day, Brazil, Hawksby and Jacobs, Durham and Wright....help me through a long boring shift :)
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

I've seen him on the BBC occasionally, reviewing the papers and talking in that transatlantic drawl of his.

As for Talksport, I didn't think that anyone could fuck that station up more than Kelvin MacKenzie did, but Moz Dee's done a spectacular job of making it pretty unlistenable.

I used to enjoy the Creatures of the Night, even though it was daft.

Moz Dee's the bloke who's running the station now. He and Whaley didn't see eye to eye, even before the sacking incident.

man, I used to listen to that when I was on early shift...years ago. I always though Collins was class, though Miffy was on a meal ticket.
Collins did the day time for a while, but they put him back to the night time, pity as I thought he was good. And Gaunty, who replaced him, is quite loathsome at times.

didn't realise Whaley was sacked, I guess I never heard much when he was on.
Do you remember his tv show from the 80's?...hahaha, that was so ridiculous :)

He may or may not have broken a broadcasting rule - the Representation of the People Act - by telling the people of London to "Vote Boris". There's some grey area around whether he did that just before or during the electoral period when it applied, and Whaley's hinted he's going to challenge his sacking on these grounds.

He's on Play Radio UK on Mondays and Tuesdays, and he filled in for Clive Bull last week on LBC. It won't be long until he's got some proper slot somewhere.
I don't share his politics, and I found him a bit stale during his last year or two on Talksport, but he's still leaps and bounds over people like Mike Mendozeoff.

Now, Tommy Boyd was The Man, the guv'nor of talk radio:

Ah, Gunt as he's also known. Abysmal.

Yep, Collins switched shifts with this much-missed, curmudgeonly old walrus:

I stopped listening to Talk Radio decades ago. It was fun for a while... but, it got boring.
Also... it is all about RATINGS... not substance or content.

Some of the stations are going like that here, too, with the reverse bid auctions, and the like. Internet speech radio is much better though in many respects: there's a lot more freedom to say what you want, and calls are largely unscreened. However, that can also encourage the nutters or the people who will call up just to call the presenter a cunt because they know they can.
