I recommend hand-weeding your gardens at this time of year, folks. No chemicals. Much better for the respiratory system, too. Plus, it's a good way of combatting any tendency towards depression!
And if you haven't a garden, and are feeling low, get out in the summer air and in amongst nature.
This has been a public happiness announcement.

Funny, for three years in a row I always found this lone gigantic bee that would decide to up and die die on the same area on my driveway every spring. Bizarre.
Now that I have a virtual mini forest of raspberries bushes 4 years in the making, the bees are now coming and going in droves, pollinating every last flower pod judiciously. Win win..

I wasn't mocking, for fuck's sake. Maybe the nuances went over your head. There's no harm in trying to make light of something serious. Using a bit of gallows/grim reaper humour to address a serious issue and aim towards positivity is actually very healthy. But if people must wallow in black, play their Leonard Cohen records and be po-faced, fair enough. I want no part of a forum like that. Even Hillaryis44 would be a healthier alternative.

I think some people think pretending to be suicidal is cool or romantic, whereas as anyone who really suffers knows, the genuine condition is a disturbing, ultra-depressing state that should be combatted. Irony's a good way of lifting people's spirits and being objective about their condition, pulling them out of that black solipsistic hole. But then, irony doesn't seem to be a global gift.
The real irony is that the vast majority of people greatly suffering any condition (OK, often-times men) will use a good dose of irony to talk about it themselves and won't mind if anyone else does.
The other day a guy I met through one of my friends said 'I just can't seem to pull women. They think I look immature and little and treat me like a kid. I guess it doesn't help that my surname is Young.'
'Don't worry mate,' I said, 'I know how you feel. My surname is wheelchair.'
The guy believed me for a split second until he realised I was joking.

"When you get the blues and you wanna shoot yourself in the head/It's alright, it's alright/Go ahead"
and
"So I went to the bathroom, to the medicine chest/There was razor blades and sleeping pills and all the rest/But I was in control baby, I was so relaxed/I found myself my dental floss, my favorite kind: unwaxed!"
That mockery is super-cool. It probably saved a lot of lives!
you have a nice virtual way with words. thanks for posting them...~

Of course, a bit of humour (even dark humour) always helps to gain a bit of perspective on the situation.

Hell Yeah!
I love walking over towards my raspberry bushes in the morning, bare feet on the wet grass, and picking those tasty, juicy, fresh raspberries! It wonderful.

...and once they start ripening it's a daily pleasure at that. It all started from me buying one $4.99 plant on a whim (little did I know). I now have two rather large and quickly expanding areas that are growing like crazy, all 100% organic. The patch on the side of the house is all staked up/supported, and about 7 feet high. I have to keep relocating and replanting the all new shoots, that keep popping up, as left unattended they completely would take over everything. Last year I offloaded about a dozen new shoots at my brothers cottage , and my neighbor on the other side of the fence is getting unexpected treats popping up like crazy as well. They seem to really love the blood meal.

My grandfather used to have them and I saw a plant in a store and I bought it. They do expand rapidly, they shoot up everywhere. They've started ripening here and everyday I get a little more, it's awesome.
I originally planted them on our old patch of land where our chickens, geese and goats used to roam... (they were already gone, though) but we didn't use the land... now it's part of our backyard with this huge raspberry bush right in the middle! I'm thinking about putting the shoots next to the fence.
Also, close to my home there are huge blackberry and dewberry bushes.

I would like to grow blueberries..maybe next summer.
Funny, my grandfather had the same at his cottage near the beach when I was growing up. I'll always remember picking them each morning to put on my cereal and eat breakfast outside on the back deck. Every time I eat one of my own, I get flashbacks.
Good times.

lol... You should drop off your laundry at the door at the same time.
They replant amazingly well once uprooted, so if that day ever comes, make sure to get a few and continue the lineage.
