try the ouija board and test your luck...

Tripping out in Epping Forest when I was 17, tooled up and thinking we were brave explorers in an unchartered land, came across, or close to, a group who were chanting some strange latin-ish shit accompanied by flutes and such. Someone shouted out and we bolted soon as, so dunno what they were, but it was disturbing to think what they were up to. One of my mates later that night cryed about it :D

For awhile in high school I lived in a small, desolate place that had a decent-sized group of people that considered themselves Satanists. Having never attended any of their gatherings, I don't know if they followed any specific doctrines of if they just got together to do evil things.

I had a friend who tried to leave the group and they killed him. They made it look like suicide by hanging, but his brother found him before he died and cut him down. I doubt he could talk, but he somehow indicated to his brother that they had done it (they had already threatened to kill him if he left). He lived for 3 hours, but it took 4 hours for the ambulance to arrive. Supposedly some of the ambulance people were in on it. (That's one of the things they did...) The brother has since died by hanging, but I don't know whether that was suicide or homicide.
  • Actually, there was a dude from South Dakota who moved down to the Dirty South in high school who I became friends with. He loved Danzig and had an interest in the occult and that kind of thing, but he was a normal dude (kinda). I always thought he seemed like a good candidate, but when an owl flew into his windshield one night when he was trippin' he flipped out, said the owl's soul entered his body and then went on to become a preacher.

i just saw danzig the other night, awesome show. its like a 20 anniversary tour.

Yeah, Church of Satanism practices a different kind of satanism to what ordinarily springs to mind. It has bugger all to do with the biblical devil. Satan is a metaphorical philosophy of living.

Their version of the 10 commandments is in parts admirable, in parts ridiculous:

The Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth

    1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked

    2. Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them

    3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there

    4. If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy

    5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal

    6. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved

    7. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained

    8. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself

    9. Do not harm little children

    10. Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food

    11. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him

Most of those seem good or at least okay, maybe except the destroy part. Not the kind of thing I would have associated with satanists. The only one I know if is Marilyn Manson. I don't know anyone personally who is (or at least they haven't told me, and also haven't killed me in their lair).

  • I used to consider myself a Satanist.

I do not anymore as I believe I have no need for such a title. I'm happy in myself and I don't need to consider myself as part of any religious organisation. I still have friends who consider themselves Satanists.

I own a lot of 'alternative' religious literature including the Satanic Bible, The Satanic Witch (I still read those regularly) and the Satanic Rituals. My mother and best friend have read Satanic literature on my recommendation, and found it fascinating. Unlike some people, they did not take it literally and saw the metophorical aspect in it's teachings, just as my Mother does Christianity.

I'd like to make it clear that I do believe in God and the Devil (infact, I believe you can't have one without the other). I've always believed in both and was raised a Christian. My mother is a Methodist local preacher and I went to a Catholic school.
I'm now older, more experienced, i've made my peace and have a lot more faith in God (which i'm no longer afraid to admit). However, I do not believe that it would have come about, had I not read into Satanism - not exactly what Anton LaVey intended, but nothing ever turns out how we planned, does it?
When I first looked into the religion, I thought that it would get back at God as I too believed the stereotypes (I was a very angry late teen) but I soon discovered that is was nothing like I expected. It actually sent me on a journey of self discovery and made me ask myself some very difficult questions.

I respect Satanism as a religion and personally gain a lot from it's philosophies, just as I do from Islam, Buddism, natural Witchcraft and Christianity. Which is exactly why I no longer consider myself a Satanist - I wouldn't call myself a Christian or a Muslim so why claim the title 'Satanist'?
The religion is based on faith and belief, the same as all other worldwide religions. There is no Devil worship and no one is harmed if practiced correctly. (I know some of you are gonna say "but what about those German kids who killed people in the name of Satanism?!" Twats is all I have to say on the matter... ill-informed twats.)
Those of you who have met me would not consider me an 'evil' person, i'm nothing like Marilyn Manson or the stereotyped 'Devil worshipper'. I'm a happy, giving and confident person who loves animals, nature and the people in my life.

I simply would not be the person I am today had I not read the books i've read.

I think there's a lot of sweeping statements on here. I suggest a few of you read up and do some fact hunting before you slander people's beliefs, lifestyle and religion choices.
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...
