No I do not believe in it.

Unless you mean health reason. My dad died of a heart attack, so that's the reason for his death. But if you mean like some good thing came out of it, no it didn't. He's just gone and now I don't have him.

i think so yeah, even if the reason is just to fuck with my world on a daily basis.

I have mixed feelings about placing reasons on events that seem to be out of my control...sometimes it seems helpful to think things happen for a reason, other times I think as individuals perhaps we're just not as important as we like to believe... :p

I believe that everything happens for a reason. At least it is my way of rationalizing when things don't go the way I planned for them to go.

I believe that whatever is meant to be will be.

  • I am a believer of this idea.

    Anyone else?

Sometimes I am a believer in this idea, but then other times I think it's all just a wild crazy mess we all must crawl through and it has no purpose (except maybe to drive me crazy ;) )

I'd love to be able to think that, however...

....when shitty things happen to good people and good things happen to shitty people...it makes it really hard to see what the reason may be

Yep, I know what you mean.

  • Ditto.

I used to believe everything happened for a reason. I took comfort in this idea when my dad died unexpectedly when I was 17. But...what could possibly be the reason for some of the atrocities that people experience during their lives? Is it to teach them a lesson? To teach the rest of us a lesson? If someone's shitty luck is happening to teach ME a lesson, then that fucking sucks.

I think this way too like with children born with birth defects -- who is learning the lesson and why do they have to suffer to have it taught?

  • Good or bad everthing is for a reason...
    I think the same....
"You're the eve of my destruction in the garden of fears"
  • Nope, not everything has an inherent reason for happening, but we have an amazing ability to glean reasons for things happening, and that helps us to piece our lives together meaningfully and fashion a path for ourselves...

    Or something. :D

I think this is a valid idea -- we have an incredible desire to make sense of everything -- an undying need to know - to learn from things.

  • Although, I think it is wonderful to be able to feel things happen for a reason -- the people who always think this way are truly the lucky ones, I think.
