That is putting it one way. I'm on the 3rd book and already a 1/4 of the way through since I started it late last night.
I read all 3 in 36 hours :shifty:

    I read book 1 in a day
book 2 took me 2 days just because of my little men and baseball...
and book 3...well....I see it being done tonight with some breaks in between.

I just finished these as well - in about 2 days. Ok, finished with the fluff now onto 1776!
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

    That's a good one.

I'm in the middle of 50 Shades Freed
Finished the 2nd book in a 24hr period, just started Freed...not sure I can finish it as fast. The work week might get in the way of reading, and I can't exactly just have it lying around  ...I work with teenagers

Stephen King's It. Just found out they will be doing a re-make so I decided to re-read the book. Haven't read it since the summer of 96. Scared the shit out of me then and I was 14. I'm 30 now and I am still getting chills down my spine reading some parts.

Just finished Ken Bruen's Calibre... a good quick read... it's the punch in the gut noir that Bruen always seems to deliver.

Just started T. Jefferson Parker's Laguna Heat.... figured I'd jump from Bruen's London cityscape to Laguna Beach...

im only 110 pp in but i love it already(as i knew i would). i am a massive fan of this period of time... or suggested period of time. i love the honour, the treachery. i love the human frailty, the love of mothers, the love of sons for their familys honour and the sense of balance. i love the feeling i sense for certain characters.. jon snow, bran stark, aryan stark, cersei lannister and her brother jaime. and most of all the sense i get from tyrian lannister and that perhaps he is the most regal of his family. i also feel that catelyn tully is not as strong as i wish her to be.. but let us remember i am not far into the series. there are characters id love to be proven wrong about and only time will tell.

oh and there is doubt i would recommend this book.... this series of books to anyone who is a reader.

Which ones have you read? What books would you include? I saw Their Eyes Were Watching God, and now I'm intrigued. I LOVE that book! :)

39 on the list, I kind of thought I would have read more of them. :( Some I have not heard of, maybe I will look into them.
Easily my favorite book on this list is Atlas Shrugged. Changed my look on life when I read it the first time. I also encourage reading any James Baldwin or Langston Hughes for any that have not been exposed. For a guy who grew up in lily-white Vermont in a very relaxed atmosphere it made for tremendous perspective on how things were earlier in the century in our own country.

I used to have a CD of poets reading their poetry. Langston Hughes was awesome at reading his poetry.

People Who Eat Darkness by Richard Lloyd Parry. "The true story of a young woman who vanished from the streets of Tokyo - and the evil that swallowed her up."

    Really good. Very disturbing.
