DAMN!!! I was really hoping they would remain long enough to put on the Carano/Santos fight.

don't be surprised if Gina Carano ends up in WWE. You heard it from me first. Dana White won’t do women’s groups for a while and Shane is a mark for that stuff, so she could be a Diva for the next Wrestlemania against Beth Phoenix.

  • me too! :) i was very much looking forward to gina carano vs. cristiane santos! it sounded like it was going to happen in early 2009, and the next couple of cards appeared to be solid. i'm sure the guys will be picked up by other organizations in time, but i hope the women are able to find a place to compete and get their fights shown. someone out there must have the sense to know that their women's bouts were always one of the most exciting parts of their shows.

i'll miss the round cage too. for some reason i find it to be the best for keeping the action going. it's not as easy to hold your opponent against the fence and it's not a rope. (not a fan of the rope ;))

with the afl, adrenaline, and this all seemingly going down at the same time, i just hope that some of their talented fighters don't find themselves searching for some obscure place to go, when they've put time in the sport and deserve to be seen.

Why won't Dana do women's groups?

WWE?? Well as long as I get to see Gina doing something!!:D
Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.

personally, i can't see her doing something like that. she's far too competitive and someone with some sense out there has to be seeing the possibilities with women's mma. i hope so, so they can continue to get their matches out there to a larger audience, instead of being relegated in the pre-lims on small shows.

when she originally decided to do amaerican gladiators, i saw an interview with her where she said she did it mostly because she just wanted to have fun with it because the show was on when she was younger and that it was a good chance for her to promote elitexc and women's mma. if it's not promoting mma, i can't see her doing it, and if it's something to do with the wwe...i just know see that in her personality. just my opinion. :)

I don't think Dana think women mean much. Shane is a big MMA mark and with the 25th anny coming up for Wrestlemania, I see WWE making a play for her.

he's said many times that he just doesn't enjoy seeing women fight. i think he just hasn't seen the right women's matches yet! ;) i think it was on "warrior nation" where they asked him the question...the episode was about gina carano and elaina maxwell...and he said that he didn't think we'll ever see women fighting in the ufc.

Good, EliteXC sucked. Where will Kimbo go now? If Dana White picks him up Kimbo will never win another match unless he is pitted against the absolute worst of UFC.

I don't think Gina would do it for the long haul, but Vince most likely would offer the most $$$ and coming off the CBS exposure, he may be the one most likely gunning for her. He needs a hot angle for Wrestlemania 25 and Gina would be the ingredient to shift the women's division out of first gear. I'm just saying that I wouldn't be shocked if it happened.

Dana White has stated that he would never pick up Kimbo. He said that Kimbo would be able to hold his own even against decent fighters in UFC. Hopefully White can see the potential in having women in the UFC. Carano is a huge ratings draw. I would hope that he puts on the Carano/Santos fight as an exhibition to test the waters. That fight would draw a huge crowd and hopefully open the door for women in the UFC. If not the only place I can see them going is Affliction.

As to Carano going to WWE, I can't see it. She has fought on the international Muay Thai circut and is a fierce competitor. She would loose all credability within the martial arts community by going that route. If anything she will end up in Affliction or head back to the Muay Thai circut.

Regarding your sig, I wonder if Ron Paul fooled around with Sarah and caught stupidity for his troubles?

yeah, i can see what you're saying. i'm just picturing her trying to stay in character and laughing her ass off because she couldn't take it seriously. :D maybe they could have her do an appearance like cro cop did in japan last year when all he did was walk down to the ring and kick the "heel" in the head without saying a word. :)

i don't know, i just can't see her or the coutures seeing that as a good career move. she's already had to try to overcome the misinterpretations about american gladiators...people thinking she was only getting fights because she was on that show.

so we'll say maybe on wwe ;):D but the playboy thing phantom pain mentioned is definitely not happening!

Are you implying that Ron Paul is stupid because if so that is just cause to drag your ass into the Octagon. :)

I just don't see Gina going to WWE. She would loose so much respect that she may as well retire from professional fighting. Unfortunately you may be right about the Playboy and that is a damn shame.

strikeforce is a possibility too, with gina having faced elaina there before, and elitexc having co-promoted with them in the past. ideally, a showdown in the ufc as you mentioned, mammasan! that would be fantastic. i think it might change dana's mind, and maybe a few fans' as well.

the people at affliction may be receptive to the idea, true. maybe the fedor vs. arlovski card?

    Yeah but will you still...

...use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

I forgot about Strikeforce. If I was white I would put together a fight card to air on Spike with a Carano/Santos fight on it. Check out the ratings during their match and go from there. Putting them on PPV would be a mistake for the first fight. They need to build up a following and after UFC fans start seeing these women fight and how bad ass they are White will change his stance.

Well she was an American Gladiator recently... I don't think that holds too much more prestige than WWE. She can do whatever she wants and people will still respect her fighting skills.... such as Playboy.:D:p

Did you see how relieved Gina's dad was after her fight? I was quite impressed with her skills. It wouldn't be a bad thing if she went the Playboy route!

As bad as American Glasiators was it is nowhere near as bad as WWE.
