vande velde crashed on the climb?? ... i was reading the newsflashes and they just kept saying that they had no clue where he was?? ... strange ...

yeah - it was on a rocky section of the mountain so no trees to stop the bike from falling way down ... too bad for the guy ... he was first leading over the last climb yesterday ...

He got behind on the climb, but he said he was only 34 seconds behind when they topped the mountain. It was on the descent that he crashed along with a Cofidis rider. There was apparently nothing on race radio and no cameras caught it. Odd.

i missed the replay of the stage and was only following based on the website but my buddy was watching live and he said that the commentators did not know where he was ...

the descent yesterday was very technical ... menchov lost 15 seconds (which is huge) to the main GC contenders on the descent alone ...

It's difficult for me watching the coverage here in Oz with the commentators support of Cadel Evans. Not Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen but the post-race people. I must be the only Aussie that isn't cheering for Cadel Evans and only wish he lost more time last night.

Why aren't you cheering for Cadel? Any specific reasons?

based on the first TT - he has a shot ... both Evans and Menchov were faster than him but not by as much as he was faster then the other GC contenders ... he has a shot but he'll have to bust it ...

I just think the guy is a whinger and I would prefer to see a winner who has at least won a stage. He is very boring to watch compared to some other riders and I haven't seen him attack once. He has also been banging on about 3 against 1 the whole tour. He also headbutted a camera that was in his way the other day just after he crossed the line.

I actually like most of the other Aussie riders and have been enjoying the aggression of CSC and hope that Sastre can repay his team for their efforts.
