My uncle met him at Peter Lugers in NYC about 9 years ago, signed an autograph, and chatted for a while. GREAT ACTOR

He was also married for like 50 + years, must be a hollywood record

I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Mr Newman on two occasions. He was such a beautiful person, inside and out. Gracious and generous to a fault.
    Rest in peace.
And peace and love to Joanne his wife.
    Another incredible soul.
Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away

  • Rip ..83 is a though age ....
is that true he had cancer?
  • One of the truly great American actors. Definitely personified "cool" in his day.

By all accounts seems like he was a great person and humanitarian.

    RIP Mr. Newman

  • Wow, this feels like losing an uncle or a grandparent, and I never even met the man. I was introduced to him via Newmans Own Marinara Sauce. Then i expanded to his line of Salad Dressings (which make awesome marinades) drinks (Gorilla Grape!) Sala, etc...Then is tarted to watch som e of his movies old and new. he really was as talented as they say, and seemingly as nice a guy as they say. I saw an iconoclasts with him an Robert redford. Hanging in house is a sign I've wanted to find for my house ever since:

Everyone Brings Joy To This House
    Some By Coming
    Some By Leaving

By leaving us, Paul Newman brings much sadness

A true giant in American culture. He understood what so few can grasp, that true art requires compassion in spades. One of the last of a dying breed. Even though he had all but retired, the world just feels a little poorer without him.

A good and often overlooked Newman film is "Nobody's Fool." A low-key story with a very fine and subtle performance, well worth seeking out.

one of the best actors of all time. RIP
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
  • i would say he was the best american actor ever RIP ........

He's one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite.

I loved him in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" with Elizabeth Taylor.

Don't know if you pet lovers were aware that he also offers an organic brand of Newman's own pet foods. I have to order it off the internet. But it's worth it because my kitty loves it. And just like with his people food, the profits go towards charity.

I read somewhere that the whole "Newman's Own" thing started out as a joke between him and another friend. It blossomed into something really amazing and beautiful.

    God's speed Mr. Newman.
I wish a guy like Eddie, would like me.
