Hayden killed the franchise. Either he did a terrible job acting in both films, he was directed wrong or the dialog was written that bad.

His part was played like one big cliché.

III was good...could have been better without Hayden.

    PBM

Hayden was the biggest problem with the prequel, besides Episode I being a complete steaming pile of shit. Lucas completely dropped the ball with the prequels. They could have been great, even better than the original trilogy.

I will go see the new movie because my kids want to see it but if it wasn't for them I wouldn't waste my time, or my money, watching Lucas butcher the franchise any more than he already has.

So my original thread from way back when is gone, so I'm starting another one.

    First topic-

Is anyone interested in the Clone Wars movie coming out? It looks kind of cheesy in that the characters' mouths don't match up to what they're saying. The cartoon looked better than this does. Still, the nerd in me really wants to see it in the theater.

Where is this one supposed to fit? I mean, Darth Vader is in Episode 3... so it can't be between 3 and 4.

From what I remember reading a while ago, GL said that Darth would not be the centerpiece of the live action series, so it could definitely be during that time period. I think they wanted to focus on the hunt for the remaining Jedi and some other storylines.

EDIT= Again, this is for the live action series. The new "movie" will take place between Eps II and III.
No longer overwhelmed it seems so simple now.

The live action series will take place between episode III and IV and will not focus on the main characters. He said that they may make appearances but would definitely not be the focus of the series. The new movie and the animated series all take place in the time period between episode II and III.

The first 20 min of III were pretty darn exciting.

The problem with episode III, beside Hayden's acting, is that the transition from Anakin to Vader was rushed. The movie tried to compress something that in reality would have taken some time into about 2 hours. Episode I should have started around the time when episode II took place. Lucas could have showed Anakin starting to slowly stray from the path of a Jedi with his continued fall in episode II and finally turning in episode III.

I do totally agree with this. I was hoping to see him go through the Jedi trials (not the ghetto ones that Luke did with Yoda) and the "knighting" of Anakin as a Jedi. It could have made a more interesting story. They could have just done flashbacks to the pod race or something to show him as a kid. Then you eliminate the entire Gungan plotline and battle which was lame compared to other battles in the trilogy.

The only aspect that should be kept from episode I was Darth Maul. That fucker was bad-ass. And yes I agree, it would have been great to see more battles from the Clone Wars and how Anakin became the hero of the Republic while simultaniously falling to the dark side. A slower progression would have made the prequels sooo much better. That and no fucking Jar Jar Binks and 30 minute Pod Race.

I agree...the only reason to make Episode I instead of telling the backstory through crawl text or dialog in the movie is that GL wanted to show a young apprentice-level Obi Wan and the hesitation amongst the Jedi to train Anakin. I got the feeling GL really wanted us to see those two things instead of just "knowing" about them...unfortunately, that wasn't enough to build a film around. It really could've been a 30 minute prologue if he really wanted to show it. Much more time should've been spent on Anakin as he grew more powerful and more emotionally conflicted.

Totally agree. he could have done it a la Peter Jackson in LOTR. Speaking of LOTR, and not to stray off target, but is anyone excited about Guillermo Del Toro directing the Hobbit.
