Planning a move to Chicago, help?

Hola everyone. Long story short..I have been offered a job in Chicago and I am seriously thinking of taking it. Never been to Chicago however. Anyone have any ideas on where to live/not to live? I've looked at a few websites but I thought first hand advice from actual citizens would be useful as well. Thanks in advance!
