because she was a bitch that only wanted him around when she desperately needed someone. she went to him and sobered herself up. she got what she needed, paid him back with a lay, then was gone. then she finds out she's sick with an incurable disease. he was the only solid as a rock type of person left in her life when she was dying. where else was she going to go? if she hadn't contracted aids, i think she would have never gotten back into his life.
i never really cared for that character. self-centered bitch.
But the thing that really bugs me is that Bubba died. Coolest character (after Forrest of course)... Shrimp is the fruit of the ocean, you can boil it, sauteé it, fry it... you have orange shrimp, coconut shrimp, shrimp caserole... Dammit, I feel like shrimp now.
if you listen to him name all the shit you can do with shrimp, he never once says shrimp cocktail.
I don't think neither of them knew what "true love" was. Jenny was abused by her father and most of her boyfriends, so she was never used to being loved by a person like Forrest and didn't know to deal with that.
And Forrest just didn't have the swagger to win her over until it was nearly too late. But that was actually more to due with Jenny finally thinking straight.
One of the first movies that ever made me cry. The only bad thing about this movie is that it beat out Pulp Fiction for Best Picture and Best Director.

I think she told Forrest that only she had the "disease" and it didnot transfer to Forrest Jr. but i cant really confirm that...(i should pop in the DVD )
also given her childhood she very likely felt that she didn't deserve to be loved...and yeah she didn't how to love forrest without burdening him...it took wanting to be sure that little forrest was taken care of being that she was faced with the reality of her impending death for her to finally be able to accept from and give love to forrest.

Forrest is not a smart man but he knows what the fuck love is!!!! In fact he is smarter than most of us dumb motherfuckers here...Jenny had a shitload of problems in which Forrest couldn't connect with as he knew simply that he loves her and that should be enough..
