    deep throat a popsicle... ;)

seriously though, sorry that you're sick...strep throat feels horrible...

but like others have said gargle with warm salt water...and use chloroseptic spray...stay away from ice cream, dairy is bad news with any kind of infection...stick with sorbet or popsicles instead.

i hope that you get to feeling better soon

Anyway, I'm all drugged up big time right now feeling happy and great..though my throat still hurts..lol..good times..

    ahhhhhhhhhh...classroom germs, don't miss them! :p
i think every first year teacher gets sick and sick sick.....after that you seemingly build up some immunity over time. sure, still get sick, but not nearly as much as that first year.

    feel better champ! :)

Thanks and it's exactly what the Doctor said as well. I should get used to it for a while..lol..it sucks because otherwise my immune system is pretty strong and have never had strep throat and prior to this haven't been to the doctor in like 5 years or something..I thought my system would be prepared for the little fuckers with the beating it gets daily on crowded nyc subways etc..oh well....never had the flu either but now I'm considering the shot..

there is nothing like a classroom for germs! and the younger the kids, the grosser it is! :p and if you share any materials amongst your students, even worse! due to the nature of my subject, i washed my hands a million times a day...and i am sure that was a very GOOD thing to help cut back on the germs. none the less...the first year is always hell, on many, many levels. ;)

take good care of yourself. eat well, proper rest, multivitimans...and yes, i am a believer in the flu shot. it may or may not work depending on what strains are about each season, but with a close to 70% accuracy, i like the odds of cutting down my chances for getting the hellish flu. working in an office environment really isn't too much better....but i do think considerably cleaner overall. :p i will be getting my free shot next week and encouraging my husband to do the same thru his own employer.

btw - i was sick as a dog for alomst a month with a hideous cold..simply b/c i worked well over 150 hours of overtime in a 1.5 month period due to our busy season ...so no time to recoup! only now am i - fianlly - feeling better.

I was a sub last year :)..at least in nyc subs must be on their way toward certification and/or their master's so many are more qualified than you'd find elsewhere...but there is a reason for that..lol...yeah, it's tough ;)..

I just googled 'throat culture' and it looks like it's the test they use to determine strep infection. The doc used some sort of swab in my mouth..the box referred to strep test....I know it is dangerous and especially when you let it linger like I did..since i've never had it just assumed it was a severe sore throat for a few days..boy was I wrong..the antibiotics clear it up rather fast..thank God..

yes, it sucked! i did take 2 days off work sick for a nice long 4 day weekend to recoup once it finally ended, and i am sure to enjoy the addition to my paycheque...especially with the shit state if things as of late....but none the less, bleck.

i am glad you are feeling better already!
just in time to enjoy the weekend! ;):D

and hell yea, strep is serious business. i've had it about 3x in my life. last time, 2x in a row while living in london. they gave me lots of lovely painkillers, but no antibiotics the first round......thus it came back with a vengeance and then they finally gave me antibiodics AND pain meds. :p sheesh.

Hot tea with lemon and honey is great for a strep throat. But if you're really looking to kill the pain quick, make yourself some very hot chocolate and drink it through a straw. Yep, you'll burn the back of your tongue, but it will numb everything in your throat.

kevinbeetle: "Yes. When her career washes up and her and Gavin move to Galveston, you will meet her at Hot Topic shopping for a Japanese cheerleader outfit.
