Is your Boss hassling you about "The PIT"?

In my last job, I didn't have time to BREATHE let alone be on the internet (unless it was work related). Then I switched departments last summer and it was SOOOOO slow. (It picked up in the fall). I felt guilty being on the internet, but then I went into my supervisor's office a couple times and saw her looking at hand bags....
The attitude here is as long as we get our work done, it is okay. Which works for me!0 -
I never had time to dick around on the internet during my last job, but even if I had, I would have stayed away from message boards. You people that post from work (and are reprimanded for such) are brave! I'd die if I got caught doing something like that when I wasn't supposed to. I'm such a goody-two-shoes in work situations.0

Part of my last job was moderating a forum which used the v3 bulletin style, so half the time I was on here they though I was actually workingI'll Ride The Wave Where It Takes Me0

no hassling here.
and he better NOT if he knows what is good for him!!!So I'll just lie down and wait for the dream

I thought people went to work to work. Damn the times sure have changed.0

the general consensus at my office is that as long as your work gets done, it's ok if you spend a few minutes or so online
however, the person who is my supervisor's boss doesn't really care for anybody to be on the internet at any time unless you are testing out your application on the organization's intranet....so whenever he's around, nobody really dicks around then...0 -

I see it both ways..........I know more folks that smoke and spend about half their work day outside puffing away........at least I can multi-task on the pitThe best use of Life is Love.

I'm never as good as when you're there.........0 -

My boss is not hassling me about the pit. One old fart did, but that was because I refused to do the work he presented me with, as it was not part of my job description.I was swimming in the Great Barrier Reef

I could swear he's trying to talk to me

yikes locked!
and....no.
at least not yet.
this is the first job EVEr that i have at-my-fingertips qucik and easy access, and quick access! to the internet. teaching art and working retail, errrr...not so much. now that i am a cube-dweller, it's just SO easy! thankfully, in my position i have been reassured many times by colleagues that is indeed a-OK to go online. do your work, always put it first and give 100%...and any time left over, whatever. i am absolutely sure we are *monitored* to some degree by IT, but until my first annual review this summer, i haven't heard a peep...see if i ever do. my work is very much feast or famine....but they do very much NEED me here for it, and so it goes.this is a rare evening of me posting...nowadays i almost exclusively read/post at work.
gotta love that!
