Watching sports - I still don't get the point.

  • I find I only watch the sports I can (or at least used to) play. As a kid, baseball was my life. if I wasn't watching it, I was playing it. I never played organized football, but I played a lot of pickup, and was pretty good. I was never any good at basketball, and hate watching it. I think a whole lot of people watch sports because they bet on it, especially the fantasy aspect of it

I think people who watch sports like the sport. I'm not really sure what's to get.

I still really enjoy sports, both watching and playing, but I don't do either as much as I once did. Now when I watch sports it's more clinical. I'm at work and I don't care who wins. Tell ya what, though, getting paid to write about sports is pretty damn sweet. Still, I hope to do something more than sports in the future.

I'm more of a seasonal fan, not in terms of casual but by the seasons of each each sports.

Right now, I'm definitely in NFL mode especially after getting into fantasy football. A slight interest in NBA for now until February rolls around- and March is great hoops month because of college b-ball.

Actually, March and April is probably my favorite month for sports.

Don't really care much for the off-season stuff really, and sometimes I don't even know who's been traded or not. :p

So if I break it down, it'll look like this. Bold are my primary interests.
Jan-Feb: NFL playoffs, NBA, college hoops, *WWE* (if that counts :p)
March-April: MLB news & spring training, college hoops, NBA, *WWE*
    May-June: NBA playoffs
July-Aug: MLB, NFL training camp/pre-season news
Sept-Oct: MLB postseason, NFL, NBA pre-season news
Nov-Dec: NFL, Pro and college hoop

    clearly you're not a hockey fan. :)

Because hockey is no longer a major sport. ;)

I wouldnt know what to do with myself if I didnt watch sports. I would have way too much time on my hands. Even now when it's not baseball season its tough. You get pretty used to going home and watching a baseball game pretty much every night.
Well put. that's the excitement in it. Everyone has expections of what may or might happen for certain matchups but once the game start, anything can happen.

I only have music and sports as my primary entertainment so I would know what to do if I wasn't into sports. There's aren't that many great music nowadays. ;)

    Not. And no comment. ;)

Actually, it seems that a lot of basketball fans aren't really into hockey and vice versa since both sports' seasons run almost the same time of the year.
and given that both leagues play more 80 games, kinda hard to follow both passionately.

not sure how many people follow both leagues regularly.

I just like saying that because it annoys hockey nerds. :D

I follow both but hockey more closely during the season then basketball during the playoffs. Both seasons are BOTH way too LONG especially B-ball.
