You know what's really funny about that clip is that any band that has spent more than a few times together in the studio has probably experienced an episode much like that.

Like deniro and Pacino, he still always seems to just play... Jack Nicholson though :o

Can you really be the greatest actor alive if you simply act the exact same way in pretty much EVERY film?

Not making a case either way but have you seen this film?

Yep.. that's the one he played the exact same character as in 'as good as it gets'
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
    Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
    Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
    Chicago 07? And love

Somebody who gets overlooked a lot in this category of great actors is Robert Redford. He's done some amazing work.
hmm... I actually agree there... always very natural and believable.

Sean Penn of course and my personal 'possibly the most versatile of all' favourite: Daniel Day Lewis. I don't like a lot of his films but there's no doubting the man can act anything that's put in front of him.

  • I'm gonna throw Johnny Depp into the mix. His versatility and choice of roles is incredible.
  • The exchange between Walken and Hopper in True Romance was gold Jerry, gold.

All of the above mentioned are great.

Christian Bale has been impressing me lately -- The Prestige is a great, great movie for those who haven't seen it and Bale plays a great, great role in that movie.

No. That title would fall to Morgan Freeman or Samuel L. Jackson.
This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper

the best actors around right now are christian bale, daniel day-lewis and phillip seymour hoffman.

christopher walken used to be great during the deer hunter days, but now he is a fucking joke.
  • yes he is great in other things but he hasn't done a great job of choosing his parts if he wants to be the best just my opinion.
I read that he very rarely turns down a part. He'll do just about anything, if scheduling allows. He just wants to act, and finds movie making a rewarding experiencing, whether it's a good movie or a bad movie.

I love Christopher Walken. I'm also a big fan of Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, Morgan Freeman, and Johnny Depp.

    good movie.

check out The Machinist....one of my favorite Bale movies other than Equilibrium.

i don't consider any one individual the greatest...no way.

    really like Walken though:

    Around The Bend
    Poolhall Junkies
    Suicide Kings
    Nick of Time
Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead

I saw that in passing on my digital cable movie channel and I paid little attention to it when I first saw it. I was somewhat floored to learn that Bale was that skinny guy. It was a great fucking movie.

i heard he dropped like 80 pounds for that role or something. maybe not that exact number, but something crazy. that man is a true actor. he doesn't just act his roles, he becomes his roles.

    from IMDB:

"The producers of the film claim that Christian Bale dropped from about 180 pounds in weight down to about 120 pounds in weight to make this film. They also claim that Bale actually wanted to drop down to 100 pounds, but that they would not let him go below 120 out of fear that his health could be in too much danger if he did. His diet consisted of one can of tuna and an apple per day. His 63-pound weight loss is said to be a record for any actor for a movie role."

i need to try this diet.

    Esther's here and she's sick?

hi Esther, now we are all going to be sick, thanks
  • no.

quite honestly, i don't believe anyONE is the BEST at any one thing. there are BILLIONS of people in the world, so to even imagine that ONE person is the *best* at anything...seems arbitrary/ridiculous to me. there are many, many, many truly talented individuals out there making their mark in their respective crafts/arts/fields...and to ever say just ONE is the very best, is truly a disservice.

but even if id di believe in such rankings, lists, what have you....no....walken wouldn't even be in my top 10. and i do like him too. :)

No, I think Jean-Claude Van Damme is the greatest actor alive. And that girl from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the lesbian girlfriend of the lesbian sidekick).
    THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!
