I am not a big movie buff, but the Deniro/Pacino poll made me think of this.

He is a great actor but my favourite would have to go to Dustin Hoffman26/02/1998 Wellington, 09/09/2006 Marseille, 16/09/2006 Verona
23/09/2006 Berlin, 30/09/2006 Athens, 18/07/2007 London

I don't think so BUT... I reckon his performance in the deer hunter MAY possibly be the most haunting I have ever seen. For that one film, yes he was the greatest actor... and yes he is great in other things but he hasn't done a great job of choosing his parts if he wants to be the best
just my opinion. The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
Chicago 07? And love
What a different life
Had I not found this love with you0 -
Like deniro and Pacino, he still always seems to just play... Jack Nicholson thoughchris01 wrote:I'd say Jack Nicholson.
Can you really be the greatest actor alive if you simply act the exact same way in pretty much EVERY film? The Astoria??? Orgazmic!

as far as acting skills would have to go, the answer should be Tom Hanks. I am not really a big fan, but i have seen many movies he was in....and you truly believe that he is the person he is playing. he has to be one of the most versitile actors in history, and he seems to be overlooked by most people (obviously not by the academy).
so its either him or carrot topMansfield II: # 23, since '03
routine was the theme..
there aint gonna be any middle any more0 -

Well i dont think he does act the same way in pretty much every film so... yes, i think he's great.
Batman
The Shining
As Good As It Gets
Not the same at all to me in the way he acts.
Sure he has the same characteristics in his expressions/delivery but so does every actor.
Different strokes for different folks i suppose.0 -

Good call, he's one of my favourites. I love the comedies he did in the 80's/early 90's and is brilliant in Drama movies too.0 -
there's nothing like a Walken soliloquy in a movie0

Walken is in Vancouver right now making a movie with Adam Sandler, Tracy Margan, and Tom Arnold. They showed up at the local rock station CFOX and kind of ambushed them in the studio, it was very funny.Van 92.07.21 / Van 98.07.19 / Sea 98.07.22 / Tor 98.08.22 / Sea 00.11.06 / Van 03.05.30/ Van 05.09.02/ Gorge 06.07.22 & 23 / EV Van 08.04.02 / Tor 09.08.21 / Sea 09.09.21 & 22 / Van 09.09.25 / Van 11.09.25 / Van 13.12.04 / Pem 16.07.17 / Sea 18.08.100 -
Walken is terrible; he has absolutely no range and plays the same character every time.SLC 11/2/95, Park City 6/21/98, Boise 11/3/00, Seattle 12/9/02, Vancouver 5/30/03, Gorge 9/1/05, Vancouver 9/2/05, Gorge 7/22/06, Gorge 7/23/06, Camden I 6/19/08, MSG I 6/24/08, MSG II 6/25/08, Hartford 6/27/08, Mansfield II 6/30/08; Eddie Albany 6/8/09, 6/9/09; Philly 10/30/09, 10/31/09; Boston 5/17/10

I wouldn't go so far as to say he's the best actor around, but he may be the best character actor. him and steve buscemi. i'll watch anything those two are in.0

Oh yeah, absolutely. I always get confused between the role he played in The Deer hunter and the one he played in Wayne's World 2...nathanastin wrote:Walken is terrible; he has absolutely no range and plays the same character every time."I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0
