Is it bad that this cracked me up? :o

Not at all. I'm pretty sure I laughed when he told me that part too. But, Spooky kitty is a secret. It's hard enough getting two large dogs into an apartment. :o
So not only did my man get her out of the apartment, he thought of a way to hide her.

    She was NOT happy. :p

What's sad is from what my husband said, NOBODY was outside with their cats, and we know there are plenty of them in the building.

HAHAHA....I expected nothing but this kind of reaction from some of the folks who know about my collection!!....I DID think about my collection...SERIOUSLY...For about 5 minutes, I sat there and stared out there trying to decide if I did go out there, what the HELL would I grab, and then I thought....It is just STUFF....As important as it is too me, it is all replaceable, my dogs are not. The ss card was a fluke....I opened a drawer to grab my keys and some credit cards and such and it was there. I didnt purposely go looking for it ;). It is really a sureal feeling though after the fact. NOTHING in place for and emergency. I have a fire safe, and it is in the garage with NOTHING in it. We are going to sit down and re-evaluate and make a file and have a better plan in place if God forbid something like this happens again.

For whatever reason, I just heard the area has been blocked off again. They are not letting anyone back home as of right now. So I am not sure if the cop who let me in made a mistake, or there has been a flareup in the area. I will let you know if anything transpires, but I BELEIVE that my home is out of harms way for now. I have heard that there have been 8-11 homes destroyed along with a couple of 7500sq ft mansions on the hill. I hope no one was hurt. They are not reporting any fatalities as of now, but they could get to all the homes that perished either. Scary shit man it really is!!

Thanks for the well wishes and the good hearted ribbing, as I said, I expected nothing less! haha

I think the bigger question is,
with all those posters, boots, and collectible merchandise,
this chump grabs his SOCIAL SECURITY CARD!

Im'a just come right out and say it:

    YOU'RE NOT A REAL FAN.
    ;)

    Clearly,
a REAL fan would have grabbed his JUNX ...
a hand full of posters, the Ten basketball, maybe a Reenk Roink,
    SOMETHING ...

    but NO.
He goes for his freaking laptop, a social security card,
    AND A DOG?

    A DOG?

    C'mon dude.
    The dog has legs.
If it don't have the sense to get the hell out,
    then what do you care?

    Sheesh.

    Uh.
    Okay.
I took that WAY too far.

    Hope the house is okay.
Ok, fine ... AND the dog!

    Seriously though,
    SOCIAL SECURITY CARD?

I think everything is fine now. They are letting everyone home(with ID), but instrcuting us that we are still evel 2 and should be ready to leave ant anytime...

Turns out, ALOT more people thought about the posters and my collection besides myself and the folks here. I have recieved at least 3 calls from friends back east who saw it on the news and ALL of them (after asking about me and my family of course) asked if the posters and the rest of the PJ house were okay! Guess I am known for something, huh? I guess I know what my legacy would have been had I perished.... hahaha :D

I think you need to build an underground vault or something for the PJ collection!

Since it already is a free standing building, I was thinking of maybe just digging a moat around the place and adding one of those fire systems that shoot foam retardent to the outside. One good thing is that the building itself is metal. :)

We havent had a fire (of any significance) since 1991. But there are like 16 or so major fires burning within 75 miles of here. It is crazy right now.

Again, so very happy you're ok and at least mostly safe and allowed back home!
You need to use that fireproof safe though and make sure you have your collections documented with your insurance agent. I think you do already, but if not email him your pics and eb file. :) As you said, it's just stuff, but it would be a shame not to get reimbursed. Also, do you have much ash to clean up? I know in SD it was a real problem for quite a while depending on the wind. :(
On a lighter note, how is the hanging of your posters coming along? I can't wait to see how they all turn out. :)

The ash isnt too big of a deal. Where I am and where the bulk of the fires are/were, there are 1000's of trees, and since the wind has died down to almost nothing, it cant carry all the way here...THANK GOD, that shit is a mess!

As for the hanging. I am starting next week. I was trying to figure our the best way to do and try to get a game plan of sorts. That just isnt going to happen, so I am going to just pick a poster, start at one end of the shop, and start hanging them and see how it goes. I figure, as many have said, thereisnt a right or wrong way to do it, so rather than keep analyzing it, I am just going to do it. The only thing I have decided on is that I have 30-40 different setlists that I have as well. I was considering putting those in 8x10 frames and kind of littering them in with the posters, but I am not sure if that would look like shit or not. Any thoughts on those?? I will def be posting some pics from start to finish, so everyone can see the before during and afters...:)

ps...the firesafe will be in FULL use by the end of the weekend for SURE!!

I like the idea of the setlists scattered amongst the posters. Think it would look cool; kind of a break and something different. :)

Thanks! All safe and sound now. They seem to have it under complete control and are just monitoring the "hot spots" now. There are still a couple of small areas that people arent allowed back in yet, but for the most part it seems to be over....WHEW!! Not something I wish to ever experience again. Once in a lifetime is plenty for me...:)

Hey man, fuck it! Just sit back, relax and listen to some Dead Kennedy's... :D

    "Forest Fire"

No junk food, just earthly goods
I ate weird berries in the woods
Now I'm seeing colors, I'm getting higher
    I think I'll start a forest fire

There's a forest fire climbin the hill
    Burning wealthy California homes
Better run run run run run run
    From the fire

But some of us stay and watch
And we think of your insurance costs
And we laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh
    At your lives

    Windows covered with bars
    Security guards
Is that a house or a fortress?
Against the rest of the world

    Windows covered with bars
    Security guards
Is that a house or a prison
    How you gonna get out?

Electric bull and your tennis courts
Pink sports cars and your boats
Getting fried fried fried fried fried fried
    By the fire

    Windows covered with bars
    Floodlights for the yard
It's a pleasure to watch you
    Watch it all melt

    But hey!
    What about the cocaine
    Stockpiled in the basement
Be a hero and save it
You know you're gonna need it

Where's your brand new pretty wife
    She might still be inside
Either save her or your cocaine from the fire

But the gates and doors are locked
'Cause the burglar alarms went off
Ever wonder why we laugh laugh
    At your lives

    Windows covered with bars
    Fences spiked with barbed wire
    Never looked so helpless
    Engulfed in flames

    Cameras watchin' the walls
    Don't forget the dogs
Now you're trapped in your prison
    How you gonna get out

    See the gerbil
Run run run run run run run run run
run run run run run run run run run
run run run run run run run run run
    From the fire
