And the newspaper obit pointed toward suicide by hanging, so can it be Michael??

He seemed quite friendly with Arturo.

Remember the episode in Season 3 (I think) where Kate is being held captive by the others. Well she's taking a shower and Tom walks in to give her a dress. He's smiling at her and Kate gets scared like he's going to attack her. He laughs and replies, "Sorry Kate, you're not my type."

I wondered not my type, please.......Now. it all makes sense.

I dunno, I thought it was a good episode.
yes the Michael story was tedious, but it was good to get the answers as to why he is on the boat-a lot more answers in each episode this season-which is good.

and I dont think he is one of the six (assuming thats who you guys call turnip head)
he and walt escaped earlier didnt they?

and karl and the french chick were shot by arrows, not guns-I wonder what is the significance of that

I thought the episode took too long to figure out what was going on with Michael. Was he it a flashback or was he in the time with Jack and Kate after they got off the island? I felt it was stumbling along for the first half hour. Then when it finally got going, it still wasn't great.

It also doesn't help the episode that it followed one of the best episodes of the series in my opinion. Last week's did a great job of setting up the story and even if we weren't sure what time it was (ie Jin story) we still were going along for the enjoyable ride.

I was going to respond to dirtyT's evaluation of the episode but haven't had time yet. I agree with most of what he said about the episode.

Arrows, are you sure? Gunshots were not heard, but silencers could have been used.

Also, did Alex stand up to say she's Ben's daughter to just save herself, or did she know they would be attacked? Or both?

ben told her they'd be coming after her because she's his daughter and she'd be a way to get to him.... i thought that's why she was doing it. figured she'd save herself by bargaining with them since ben's daughter would be no good to them dead.

of course, i still think it was ben's people doing the shooting...he just planted that idea in her head.

It didn't sound like the typical silencer sound for gunshots that movies/tv shows use. I don't know if that is the real sound a silencer would make. To me it seemed pretty obvious it was arrows, but who knows?

I think Sayid screwed up by tattling on Michael. I wouldn't trust Michael either if I was Sayid, but I sure wouldn't have trusted the Captain enough to fill him on Michael's secrets. Sayid is aware that the boat is not there to rescue them. He should be more suspicious of the Captain.

I'm sure Sayid has a plan, he doesn't trust the Captain, but he's using Michael as a chip of some sort.

And I can't imagine arrows being the weapon, we saw Carl's water canteen suddenly spring a leak, and saw Rousseau holding a wound with no evidence of arrows....usually an arrow sticks in its target, doesn't pass right through.

    I say bullets.

Maybe that's when he starts working for Ben?

I hope Sayid has a plan.

I agree - no arrows. It was a gun. And I think Ben is the guilty party. Not that he actually pulled the trigger, but that he arranged it.

My thoughts are that it was a gun. I don't think the sound was the silencer. It was the sound of the bullets swooshing through the air. And yes, I don't know if any of you have been that near a speeding bullet, but that is kind of the sound that it makes. I was almost hit one time while sunning in my family's back yard. It took two shots for me to realize what it was. Lucky I wasn't killed.

DAMN RIVER!! Thank the Lord you are alive. That is scary stuff!!

I agree, i think it was a gun, not sure if it was s ilencer or not though.

I think Sayid id torn. He doesn't trust Michael, so it may be hard for him to trust his comment about not trusting the captain.
