Anyone else super stoked for the final season to begin Jan 6? In my opinion The Wire is easily one of the best shows of the last 10 years......can't wait for it to start up again.

Albert Einstein (1879-1955)
I saw Hard To Imagine LIVE at MSG!
I happen to agree.
1'st season took me like about 4 episodes to get into so stick with it.
Bubbles and Omar are my favs but Felica "snoop" Bodie were / are solid favs as well
I cannot wait for the new season to start but yet I am so sad too. I am going to miss this show when it is gone. Though I have faith in the guys who created it to create something great aftreward. I used to watch Homicide religiously. Also an amazing show. I can't believe that it has never won or been nominated for anything. It's shameful.
My sister works with inner city teens in DC but she has never seen the show (doesn't have cable). She says everyone tells her she needs to watch season 4. I think I'm going to have to buy it for her.
Omar is great. I loved when he ripped off the CO-OP's re-up and sold it back to Prop Joe for 20 on the dollar. Prop Joe turns right aroud and sells it back to the CO-OP for 30 on the dollar. The episode where Omar takes the stand to be a states witness against Barksdale's guy Bird was great too.
Wee-Bay and Bunk are good charcters too. I like Carver more now, but Herc is a bastard.
Marlo is more fierce than Avon I think. I just wish they invested some time explaining how Marlo became Marlo to create a deeper character instead of just making him a major crimes target. Explain Marlo like they did with Frank Sobatka in season 2. Probably not enough time to do that with Marlo because of the Carcetti storyline.
I was watching an episode of season 4 with the commentary on the other day and they dropped a little hint on something I can wait to see. They refer to a scene where Marlow looses control of his emotions. Cant wait to see what makes him loose his cool.
Bubbles looks clean this season too... Steve Earl to the rescue
Watch for it, set your DVRs... I'm sure they will be replaying it before the season starts, it's probably on on demand too.
I've posted b4 how I met him on a train and had no idea who he was.
I still did not find the pic (hard copy) that I took of him and his daughter. It's in my picture drawer.
I've only seen one episode by the way. It scared me too much and B'more is close to me.
8/08 - Ed solo in DC, 6/09 Ed in B'more,
10/10 - Brad in B'more
I haven't seen any of the 5th season yet, but it'll be hard to top the 4th season. That season was simply devastating.

It's about Baltimore and the law enforcement's fight against drugs in the city. It's much deeper than that and it does focus on other aspects of the city (like the media or school system) but don't be fooled into thinking its a normal cop show. Great characters, great writing, great acting.
People have compared it to Shakespeare and stuff, which is a bit bollocks if you ask me. It's just an amazing show that requires a lot of time and investement - you can't really dip in and out of it. If you decide to check it out, stick with it. I thought it was too overwhelming at first because there seemed to be a ridclious amount of characters but it gets much more interesting as it progresses.
It's probably the only TV show that I've seen that actually improves with each season, instead of declining. And considering that the first season is absoutely outstanding, that's quite an achievement.
Btw my user name is supposed to be "rudiecantfail" but I fucked it up with a typo.
An opportunistic calculating mayor who did jackshit for the city of Baltimore to run on the platform he would be able to help the city properly if he were governor? Yeah I'd say Chase pretty much nailed the Carcetti character to the boy governor. The whole show nails Baltimore. Its like watching the local news but there are faces behind all the murder.
Oh well epi 9 comes out Sunday maybe I'll be over it by then. Anyway I live in downtown B'more, like a few blocks from city hall, and mercy hospital where they would close the streets for filming, and they get the city and the evils of capitalism right. From the platform Carcetti (O'Malley) has to run on, to the dickhead republican governor (played by ex-gov Erlich), crooked cops who have to be crooked cuz they don't get funded, crooked media who have to sensationalize stories for no reason, crooked gov officials who take our tax money and pocket it, and the results of what happens played out on the streets and in inner-city schools...just an awesome show showing how sold out the "little people" are in this country.
watch, now I'll find my hard copy photo of "bubbles!"
