...it's been a while. (holy shit, have things changed... first off, I only remembered NOW to renew my 10c - 3 days just in time, and I didn't even know how to do it!!)
Only when I remembered I had to renew did I realise that I haven't checked in to this thread (the only thread worth comin' back to these days!). And only then did I remember I haven't filled you in on the latest developments....
I flew across province after talking to a shelter in Canmore, Alberta. This shelter finds stray dogs from first nations reservations and rehabilitates them for adoption. This little one and her sisters were found starving and freezing in the snow (for those of you who don't know, Canmore Alberta is in the Rocky Mountains). Well the shelter was a bit disorganized (painfully disorganized!) but long story short I got it sorted out in end and this was the result:
We named her Yuki-ko (it means snow child in Japanese) - we call her Yuki for short.
(waiting patiently to get off the plane after landing in Vancouver...she's a west coast doggie now )
I met her sister too, who was the runt, it broke my heart that I couldn't take them both. Sometimes I tell Yuki i should have taken her sister... Because, goddamn, Yuki is a pain in the ass. Obviously it is a hard transition after putting down a dog, but putting down an amazinglyfuckingfantastic dog and getting a puppy within a year is .......something else. But we love her
Speaking of, this week was the 1 year anniversary of losing Sammi. :(

Here's Tomus with the biggest Tennis ball ever. If you notice that his left nostril is red, you are correct- shortly after this pic was taken it was off to the vet with a bloody nose. Ruling out cancer, tick diseases, autoimmune disorders, rat poisoning, and blood diseases. Please think happy thoughts for my big guy-

Please forgive me.. I have been avoiding this thread like the plague lately...
It just serves to remind me that I am dog less.
Which for any of you who know me equals heartless. :-(
Then, like a break in the stalks of sorrow, Halfajsppa posts
Her great save! ( you go girl!) I gZving to borrow dogs, go upstairs
To get food, discover the dogs have raided the trash! Forcing me to
Pick it up and curse them ever so lovingly.. Reminding
Me.. They may not be my own dogs. But I am in their pack.,.
And loved none less. God I miss my boys!!

this news made my day!!!!!!!! I've wondered about you and your dog quest many times
I can totally relate to what you're going thru with your new little "pain in the ass." I remember threatening gracie on a nearly daily basis that we were going to take her back  . gracie is also sick to death of hearing about her perfect (departed) "sister."
But, of course, gracie healed our hearts and turned into a sweetheart. man, she would love to meet Yuki!! keep us posted, Steph!

Funny, I was wondering about you recently. Glad to hear the news!
Like Rob, I can sooooo relate to your puppy woes. When we first got Django, he was a complete terror! I kept wondering if I was ever going to like this dog. Then it seemed like overnight that he was as sweet as can be. So patient and easygoing. I've been at home sick the last few days and, as always, he lies very close to me. Glenn says he is protecting me.
I bet Yuki is going to grow up to be a great dog. Right now, it may not feel like it but she is busy working her way into your heart.
