you're right, october is looking like a fine month. too bad about the affliction delay, but two ufc shows (one for free ), replays of ufc 86 and ufc 87 for free, the elitexc show, and even the strikeforce show in denver has a few good fighters on it. should be a good month!

EliteXC continues to promote this weekend's "EliteXC: Heat" event with a guest spot featuring Gina Carano on "The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson."
The show airs on CBS affiliates tonight at 12:35 a.m. ET/PT.
Carano (6-0) meets veteran fighter Kelly Kobold-Gavin (16-2-1) during Saturday's event at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. The fight is one of five slated for the night's CBS-televised main card.
Carano, who (with Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson) is one of EliteXC's biggest stars, fights for the first time since her second-round TKO of Kaitlin Young at the organization's second CBS event in May. With a victory over Kobold-Gavin, Carano -- who also stars as "Crush" on NBC's "American Gladiators" -- could meet dangerous Brazilian fighter Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos at an early 2009 EliteXC event.
Santos meets veteran Japanese fighter Yoko Takahashi on Saturday's preliminary card.
EliteXC and CBS have recently ramped up promotion for this weekend's "Heat" card. Many promotional spots were shown nationally this past weekend during NCAA football and NFL games. "Kimbo" was also recently booked for a variety of guest spots ranging from "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to ESPN's "Pardon the Interruption."
Joining Carano on tonight's show is "CSI: New York" actress Melina Kanakaredes and "CSI" female lead Marg Helgenberger.
"The Late, Late Show" debuted in 1995. Ferguson, a Scottish comedian who previously starred as "Mr. Wick" on "The Drew Carey Show," took over hosting duties from Craig Kilborn in 2005.
The show is seen by nearly two million nightly viewers.
it's certainly been an issue throughout her career. apparently she had trouble making weight throughout her muay thai career as well, but i'm not positive on the number she missed.
in her mma career, she's missed weight on three of her six matches. in her first match vs. leiticia pestova, she made weight. her second match was against rosi sextion, who is much smaller than her. gina missed that 135 limit by a few pounds. she was on weight again for her third match vs. elaina maxwell. her fourth match was against julie kedzie...this time at 140. gina weighed in at 1/4 pound over with clothes on. kedzie stopped officials when it looked like gina would have to disrobe, saying that she wasn't going to make her do that as it was obvious gina had made the weight.
the worst cut physically, for her, was her next match against tonya evinger. she loked like death after the weight cut and missed by a tenth of a pound. she then drank fluids before officials had time to discuss whether or not gina would have extra time to cut the .1, so evinger accepted the bout anyway.
the 3.5 pounds she was over against kaitlin young was probably the most high-profile miss, because it was on cbs, and because it was 3.5 pounds. she paid the penalty to kaitlin of purse percentage rather than try to cut the 3.5 in the hour that may have been given by officials.
so we will see if they have this bout at 140 or 145. personally, i'd like to see them follow the 135 and 145 divisions, but there aren't a whole lot of female mixed martial artists of quality competing at 145 yet. most are kind of forced to move up to 135 or try to get down to it.
anyway, i hope she's gotten around the weight cut problems. it would certainly cause her significantly less grief if she were more professional about that, and it would be the right fit for her at 145. in any case, she should be making weight. it's part of the job.
