Okay, so its mid summer, and I'm looking a lot like Casper the friendly ghost. I don't "go tanning", because I refuse to crisp myself into skin cancer, but I am looking for a self tanner that WILL NOT turn me oompa loompa orange.

I am scared to just go out and try something because I am so pale that if I turn orange it will be REALLY obvious.

I am going camping on a lake/beach in Michigan in a month and I do not want blind people with my fierce white skin.. please help!

Unfortunately, I have tried EVERY self-tanner out there and all of them turn me oompa loompa orange. And I'm as white as white gets.

The best thing I found was just laying out in the sun for a little bit. Not long enough to get crispy fried, but just long enough to get pink. Eventually turned somewhat tan after about 3-4 days.

Good luck though, and if you find something that works....share the knowledge!!

On Lake Charlevoix on the Boyne City side of it. We camp out there with my husband's parents every summer.. It's so beautiful.

Amazing! Have a great time. Charlevoix and the surrounding area is my favorite spot in the whole state. I love taking the trip out to Torch Lake too. :)

JERGENS, girl! Works like a charm ;) ...as long as you don't put too much on, you won't turn orange

I like the Jergen's tanning moisturizer. it says it's really subtle and you have to use it for a while, but it always tans me immediately. (it does have kind of a weird lingering smell though, though not necessarily bad).

I really recommend Bath and Body works tinted self tanner Strike Gold..It is very goof proof and doesn't make you look orange..it is so darn natural..i love the stuff and I hoard it. My sister who is fair skinned looks great in it too. Im more olive skin toned.

I was thinking, why don't guys use stuff like self tanners? My ex used to complain incessantly about not being tan, but he wouldn't use it.

I have never used a self tanner but for a while would go into a tanning salon only cause my sister in law at the time and her friend worked at one and was curious. It was free. Liked the feeling of gettin so hot. Kinda the same as when I'm chillin by the pool or at the beach. plus I was tan all over lol!! I mean I didnt need to cause I, have no problem getting tan (italian in me), but it was fun for a few. Who cares what people think. Just dont think I have any desire to be orange

i've used the jergens natural glow express tanner. it is really natural, and works really fast. you get a nice tan within 3 days. the only downfall is that it is quite expensive for a small bottle.

    thanks for your help friends!

I'd have no problem getting a little color on my arms/legs/face from being outside, but I want to tan to wear a bikini, and I'm just not going to lay out on my roof top deck in a bikini because its shared with the other people in my building, and thats a little much for me. So I need a natural looking lotion. I will try jergens for sure! Thanks guys!

I'm like you GS... and I'm very picky about tans cos I can never put them on properly :( but Sally Hansen spray on tan for legs is FANTASTIC... it's like foundation for your legs... I get the lighter one so it just takes the white glow off me :D but you know exactly what you're doing and how much you're applying and where... it's foolproof. I have found though that a little bit gets onto clothes... but not a significant amount for it to bother me :D

    I think tan is over-rated.

Is this what happens in places where there's less sun and no beach for people to get a real tan, with fake tanning crap? ;)
