Sister: a loooot of makeup
Other Brother: PJ shirts. (Gotta buy them still) 2 of them or 1 and a hoodie.
Dad: I have NO idea yet.
Best friend: I can't say cause she posts here. lol. (of course it's pj related)

I'm no dude! Dudette!
mom - still searching for something!
dad - flannel button-down from abercromie (same present every year for the past 9 years)
sister - black coach purse
nana - fancy silk scarf...she's going to LOVE it
papa - a robe
3 best friends - various beauty products.
now to just wrap them all and write up my "famous" gift tags...apparently my fancy lettering is a hit, my sister saves them every year
yes...i do feel like a human. i do not feel like a tree.
dude we are like living in a mini ikea, and the husband loves it! he loves putting shit together.. maybe its an architect thing!
Dude, so are we! Our home is seriously like an ikea showroom.
Except...my husband HATES putting the stuff together. So now it's my job, and I love it! (Maybe it's because I'm an artist, and it sometimes requires some serious creativity to figure out those wordless directions...lol )

you're an artist?? I did not know! I am too.. well you know, starving artist. Nannying pays the bills, drawing and painting keeps me happy

I'm a writer/artist/mommy/department store employee.
I like to do printmaking, painting and drawing...but, I haven't had much time to do it lately. I keep threatening to set up our spare room with my printmaking supplies, but every day I get caught up with something else (whose name is Annabelle...hehe)
I thought I had read that you were an art major in another thread! I was for my first year of college, and then switched to writing/english.

I hate putting it together to. I have a couple of ikea dressers and a bed and it all was a major pain in my ass. I ended putting the bed together my own way using real wood screws instead of those twisty ones Ikea gives ya.
We changed up the Christmas giving in our family this year. We just drew names out of a hat and have a $50 limit on gifts which is good.
That's a really good idea. I'm thinking of suggesting that for next year, but, we'll see. I always end up going crazy and buying too much. Especially where the little one is concerned.

Yeah I majored in Drawing and Painting.. my parents were horrified! I just applied to Graduate school for Elementary Education though.. I'm going to set up a web site in the new year and sell art work online.. I'm tying to be well rounded

Well the little ones won't have limits. Just the big kids, I mean most of us can buy the things we want without it having be a guessing game. I know it takes the fun out of it, so I'll let ya know if it was lame or not.
I just had a hard time finding something under $50 for my Mom to get me. I'm expensive

I'm going to try and do that with my prints. I'd like to get it to where I have a line of notecards that I can sell alongside original prints. I'm trying to figure out what kind of investment will be needed to really get that going. I think I'm going to try to sell on Etsy.com. If that goes well, I'd like to have my own web site. Also, I'm going to try to make enough inventory to get into summer art festivals in the area.
(LOL, I had to edit because I typed "wear" instead of "where"!)

Yeah, there's no way anyone would be willing or able to stick to a limit where the little ones are concerned.

that sounds awesome! I'll buy some, I love me some fancy cards and such. I'm hoping in 2009 to get a booth at the Bucktown arts fest. I won't be ready in 08. Come back to chicago Jenna! we could go into business!
I'll play, since I JUST finished my shopping and am damn proud of getting it done a week in advance.
Mom: Ten on vinyl...she was a big vinyl collector but not since before the 90s. Pearl Jam is her favourite band and I've been raised on them since the very beginning, so I thought it would be a nice thank you for introducing me to my favourite band at the age of 2. Oh and also, I live in Ottawa for school so I did a Parliament Hill photoshoot (I can be kind of handy with a camera when I'm in an artsy mood) and framed my favourite of the Peace Tower.
Stepdad: a John Lennon figurine thing (he still likes his toys...I got him Jimmy Page for his birthday)
Sister: an "Emily Strange" T-shirt and wallet
Dad: a harmonica...apparently he was Mr. Hippie-Man in the 60s, long hair, harmonica player, apparently went to Woodstock...although I don't believe that last one. But even when he and my mom were married, she had NEVER heard him play, and I know I never had, or my stepmom, so for over 20 years nobody had heard him play until last Christmas, when he borrowed a friend's to prove he could. And DAMN could he play! I was shocked. So yes, a harmonica.
Stepmom: A couple pretty ornaments and this wrought iron candle holder thing that is made up of eight reindeer ascending diagonally, all linked together, and they all hold tealights inside them. I swear, she's one of Santa's elves so I thought this was fitting.
(I also put together a photo album of my artsy-er photos I've taken in the last few years that I'm giving them.)
My 4-year-old half sister: (who has THE best gifts of course )
Tickets for her and I to go to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular...it used to be a family tradition as my dad lives in Connecticut, but we haven't done it since before I was in high school. He's too busy to go into the city any time this week so I just got tickets for the two of us. She's never been, so she's never seen Rockefeller Center at Christmas. I can't wait!!! Aaaand I got her this Cranium Hullaballoo game that looks like a glorified version of Twister for little kids, as well as a book I loved when I was a kid, "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein.
2003: Toronto
2005: Kitchener/Hamilton/Toronto
2006: Toronto 1 & 2
2008: Hartford/EV Toronto 1 & 2
2009: Toronto/Philadelphia 3 & 4

such nice gifts! your little half-sister is so lucky to have you! that sounds like a blast!
I'm not giving much. For me Christmas is more about making memories than it is spending money and feeling like I have to buy something. I'm glad my dad got me a kitchenaid mixer, but other than that, I don't expect anything from anybody and I feel like everybody should feel the same way.
So here's my list of what I'm giving:
Husband: New nonstick frying pans
Daughters
11yo: new clothes and backpack
4yo: pots and pan set, Dorothy costume and princess sweatshirt
3yo: pink appliances set and princess sweatshirt
stepdad, brother and dad: offensive t-shirt from t-shirt hell
mom: rooster ornament, pie plate and cat behavior book
I also have to give gifts to my various nieces and nephews. I spend about $25 each.
my kid: a huge play kitchen/b-bque, play dough..... a ton of stuff, but the big one was the kitchen.
girl: nadda, we dont have enough cash to buy for each other.
rest of famdamily, we draw names and get a gift for the person we draw. i got my aunt, and shes real simple o buy for. bingo gift certificate.
Is it the walk-in kitchen?
My girls want one of those, but we're building them a 10'x10' playhouse this year with a built in wooden play kitchen and loft, so they will have to wait.

- a stuffed bee, because she absolutely loves them.
- drum filled with musical instruments
- a big Doodle Pro, which I can't wait to play with myself!
- a Little Tykes play shopping cart, which she will hopefully not be too short for...lol
- a stuffed rat from ikea, that I just thought would be so funny for her to cuddle up with
- a front carrier (like a baby bjorn) for her to "wear" her dolls.
And we've already set up this table and chairs in her room ( http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90061310 and http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70061306 ) and this chair ( http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10116552 ) in the living room, right next to the "grown-up" version...lol.
