Oh I can't leave it.. it needs a trim.. the ends are split and frayed, and its getting messy looking. I will tell them 1.5-2 inches.. I've learned that you don't tell them a trim, that makes them go run with it. If I never trusted anyone again, I'd have hair down to the floor with 5 feet of split ends. My hair grows extremely fast (I have to do a color touch up every 3 weeks) so 2 inches will be back by july/august, just healthier.

lol, well yeah I suppose you need to trust someone with it. But that's a good idea not avoid using the word 'trim'. Everyone has their own definition. Hope you're happy with your haircut. Let us know how it goes. :)

I'll post a picture later tonight, unless my eyes are too red from crying ;)

    haha
  • Oh I have this too.. Really. My heart pounds as I'm sitting in the chair waiting and as soon as I see the scissors I feel sick... My hair is halfway down my back now and I have to tie it up most days, but I don't even like having the ends trimmed :(

    Good Luck.

I often procrastinate getting my hair cut, 'cause I can never find anybody to do it right. It seems most stylists are afraid of cutting my hair. They always want to keep it longer and with fewer layers than I prefer.
I try to assure them that it will grow back and I actually want what I'm asking for, but they always stop and tell me it looks good how they've cut it.
What's funny is this happens across the board price wise. *shrugs shoulder*
    I don't get it.

Side note: I think most men are afraid of their lady loves getting hair cuts as it has been demonstrated on several threads on this board. :p

Haha must be a girl thing.

I love haircuts and usually get one every 6 weeks. Not sure how this is related but I seem to get headaches more often when my hair is longer than I usually keep them.

I used to get so worked up about haircuts that I'd wind up with a migraine by the end of it. :D I'm not kidding! I had some BAD experiences with haircuts when I was a kid, and it scarred me for life. Then, in my early 20s, I suddenly became pretty relaxed about it. I don't know what changed, but I think it might be the fact that I realized that my hair seems to grow ridiculously fast, lol.

I will say that it took me forever to get up the nerve to try someone new out here. I would just plan my haircuts around trips home to visit my mom, and the girl who cut it while I was in college would do it. But now I've found a really good person out here and she's relatively cheap, so I'm happy! :)

so this is a picture of my hair pre-hair cut: (in december)

and this is how I'd like it cut:

Not horribly drastic.. I mean I already part my hair on the side, and have very long bangs that come across.. its just much shorter then it is now.. is grown maybe 2 inches since december...

why is this so hard?! ugh! being a girl is so stupid.

That's not a huge drastic difference, so I don't think you'll regret it!

I never feel like a haircut is drastically "shorter" unless it's much shorter around my face after the cut, you know?

Yup...it's true we have it easier on almost every aspect of life. ;)

my style is short or buzz, just as long as it's short.
Every single barbershop I go to, all I have to say is "can you just buzz the back and the sides...then trim the tops." It's so simple! :p

afraid of haircuts.......well that's a new one to me  :D
  • I have this fear of haircuts, like some people are scared of the dentist. I have had a horrible experience in the past with really bad haircuts. I have really long hair. Its down to the middle of my back, and I haven't cut it since August, but I am getting it cut this evening!

I'm nervous but it needs to go. Its so long, and its going to be so hot this summer. I don't think I can deal with it. I love my long hair right after I dry it, it looks so nice, but then it gets scraggly looking in the wind and such, and I end up wearing it up every day..

I'm excited, but I'm scared I'm gonna be mad at myself!

    You should leave it long.

But, take a water bottle with you and squirt random things if you must go. My sister used to be a beautician and she'd give kids water bottles -- she'd get wet but they would sit still and not scream.

    Okay....

so I beyond wussed at the salon. I ended up asking for 2 inches off, and for her to re-layer it all since it had grown out. She said 2 inches would take the split ends off, and then she asked me if I was afraid of getting it cut, to which I proudly shouted YES, in nervousness...

I told her I was considering shoulder length, and she said "no way! stick with long, it goes with you"... and I thats that..

    so here's the picture:

I think I look exactly the same.. hahaha.. crisis adverted, till next time.

Yes, although I've been lucky for a long time.. until recently, my friends sister cut my hair for many years, but she moved to North Carolina, and now I must deal with strangers.. I usually go for the $12.99 Super Cuts deal over the more expensive one, because the way I see it, if somebodies going to fuck it up, I'm not paying a lot for it.. so far the Supercut cuts have been satisfactory.
