People who throw trash out their car windows

When I was growing up, it was known that people aren't supposed to throw garbage out of their car windows. (Maybe it was that crying Indian commercial that was aired so much?) And, well, in SF during the 60's and 70's people WERE concerned about the environment and nature... :p

I've been really surprised lately (on three occasions in the last few weeks!) to see young people, (college students!), casually and unashamedly throwing plastic cups, beer cans, etc. out of their cars while stopped at a stop-light. On crowded streets!

WTF??! When did it become acceptable to use the street as a trashcan?

Did I miss something? Who are these people?

These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.

    KILL 'EM ALL!!!!

okay, well that might be a bit extreme, but seriously, it is pretty freakin annoying. Maybe raise the fines for it again? Yet it seems nobody really gets caught very often for it anyway...

It's so disgusting though! I think it was the giggle and the dumb smile on the little blonde's face as she dumped her beer out and then threw the cans on the ground that really got me.

I don't think that's going to damage the environment and as long as there's not a begger or policeman by the window-- you're probably okay.

I lived in Texas (Austin) for a while, and I would see that all the time. Friday afternoon the streets were clean, and on Saturday morning, they would be littered with beer cans. I saw lots of people just chuck them out of the window. Some of them I think were by accident. Guys in pickup trucks were aiming to throw them in the bed and just missed. ;)

I usually don't do it. IF i did, it's usually gum wrappers or something very small. :o I know it's still bad!

i did the philly clean-up day a few weeks back and picked up hundreds of gum and candy wrappers. not fun. granted, was better than finding the dead body as one group did, but you get my point. :)

Oops, sorry, I've driven to Philly a couple of times. I have volunteered to do river/water clean ups a few times myself in college, and believe, those are much worse than gum/candy wrappers.

 Dead body? Yikes!!! Glad I live in a small town.

Ive been known to pick it up, chase after the car and say hey you dropped this.

    Same with walkers and commuters.

    Pick up your trash kiddies!

When I see someone littering I can't help but get pissed. However, I don't get the least bit upset when I see someone kicking a dead body out of their car. Bodies decompose and give the animals something to chew on...

I thoroughly enjoy reporting litterbugs to the Washington State Patrol.
