    long story short

My computer died forever ago. I'm trying to hook it up to my roomie's comp so I can upload new music. it's syncing up the whole thing, I'm losing all my music and getting a bunch of crappy shit (no offense roomie).

Aww. I wish I could help out. My little i-shuffle was just given to me on Valentines Day. Me and my guy filled it with music off his pc, from shows we have been to/are going. I like having new music in my ears that doesn't remind me of the past. Hopefully you'll find some new songs that you like, too.

Yes, I'm all for learning new music! HOWEVER, I still like to have my favorites (i.e Pearl Jam) as an option.

You have to authorize your roomie's computer for your purchases (with your iTunes ID and password) and you don't want to sync, but transfer purchases to her iTunes. It sounds like it is already too late. Once you sync to her iTunes you lose what was on your iPod.

    That sucks, AmentsChick :(

Nope...I tried. I'm so angry, frustrated and sad. I'm going to cry. :( I even tried to "manually sync" and it didn't work.

That's fine...but I wish I could at least pick and choose which of her stuff got burned. I have no desire to listen to rascal flatts (?)

I'm sorry. I don't know what I would do without the boys on mine. :(

Yah, I hear ya. I've got the Van '05 boot from my PJ show on my old Sony player. I took it to Whistler last weekend along with the new one, just in case I wanted some alone time. I didn't.

ugh ... that sounds like my roomie's iTunes! :(

You can manually go through each song and uncheck them but that can take forever depending on how big your iPod is.

It's a nano. Some of the stuff is ok (i.e. Dropkick Murphys and Ben Harper)...but the majority is bloody shit.

I'm going through a somewhat similar situation. My harddrive got totally fried a couple months ago and I lost almost all my downloaded PJ boots because I'm a dumb shit and didn't back anything up.

Edit: red wine cures just about everything! :)
  • If your hard drive isn't messed up from your old computer and you still have it, you could use an external enclosure to transfer the stuff on it to a new computer. Here's a link to some on newegg.com

No, I bought an Ipod charger that hooks in a wall socket so at least I kept the stuff I had on my nano. I flat out refuse to listen to country music after my roomie dragged me to a Dierks Bentley concert. I was permanently traumatized.

I did buy a new hard drive (off newegg.com coincidentally) and my friend is trying to recover stuff off my old hard drive with one of those external drive transfer thingies. It's all over my head. Find yourself a computer geek!

If I had one I wouldn't have been in this mess in the first place. :(

I'm already drinking one, but you can have my other bottle! :) Come to Bonnaroo and we'll toast the demise of our computers.
