1993 was a good year for music and sports in new york, made ninth grade somewhat tolerable.

91-94 was a really good era musically but that's for another thread. finding someone who appreciates that era of music is rare these days.

Agreed!!! Everything except the Pit I can explain without sounding like a total freak...

That may be the case, but I'm sure that person had something they're really into. And if they don't it's their loss. It's good to be passionate about something whether it be that special someone, a band, a team, etc.

And if someone doesn't understand that, they're not the right person.
great post :) with me it usually comes up within an hour :o but it's not my fault... either they ask what music I'm into or we get talking about travelling and they ask who I went to all those places with or why copenhagen or whatever. I just answer but I do keep it to a minimum. It's not that I'm afraid to freak them out because if they're freaked out because I'm passionate about something, that's just stupid... but I want them to realise I'm capable of talking about other stuff too :)

Now on to read the rest of the thread :o I'm sure it's all been resolved by now anyway :o

You have to do whatever the fuck you want :) seriously... if you're in the mood to 'put yourself out there' this week, do it... if you're in the mood next week to let 'fate' take over, do it. Just don't let any of it rule your life and HAVE FUN :) Laugh at the bad dates cos they are funny to look back on :o

He wasn't a very nice guy, it turns out. He didn't even walk me to my car.
So he failed the male equivalent of the "Sonny test" (Bronx Tale reference), he isn't worth your time.

you know, that stinking movie. now every time i reach over and open a guy's door (after he opens mine) i feel like he's going to think i'm only doing it because of that movie! the famous test!

Of course nowadays most cars just have the remote to unlock the doors, so we need a new Sonny test. Cause if you are dating a guy where the Sonny test still applies, he needs a better job and newer car. ;)

well they can still come over and actually open the door. it's rare, but it happens! :)
  • How and when is it appropriate to mention the "PJ obsession"?? Should it be brought up straight-away on the first date?...or as a friend offered "laid right out there". Or...as it is potentially "freaky" to some...should it be saved to be discussed after dating for awhile?

I brought it up straight away with my last non-Ten Club member date... I didn't hear the end of it, caused great hilarity and he thought it was an excuse to take the piss.

I wouldn't mention it just yet, maybe throw some hints in but don't say out and out:

"oh btw... I'm completely obsessed with Pearl Jam... you know! the Seattle based grunge band, had a few famous songs in the 90's"
*breaks into OHHH I AHH I'M STILL ALIVEEE!!!*
    "remember?! REMEMBER?!"
    *pants*
"Eddie?! EDDIE VED-DER! KING JEREMY THE WICKED!!!!"
*continues to pant and look psychotic*"

As he gathers his belongings and runs for the nearest door....

No, I wouldn't recommend that at all *shakes head*
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

my wife isnt a ten-clubber.... i see no issue with this.. if you go on a date and talk about PJ all night then you've got a issue :)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
