I have such a love/hate relationship with that store. I LOVE the food, amazing wine prices, and just a great atmosphere. BUT...I *HATE* going there. It's always so crowded. I get so stressed out when I'm in there...I end up wanting to ram my cart into people. And, then the parking lot is always a disaster, too. It doesn't matter which TJ's I go to...they're all nightmares.

Anyone else with me on this??

Seriously, I hate it. I'd rather go to Costco on a Sunday afternoon than a TJ at any time.

the TJ nearest me is in a bit of an uppity neighborhood, so I also leave feeling a little stressed. People are so incredibly rude and disrespectful!

I constantly mutter things to my roommate (we do the shopping together since it's a bit of a drive to get to a TJ) because her mentality is "if you can't beat em, join em" and I hate having one more person act like that! I feel like a mom telling her to watch her back, someone is trying to get through, stop hogging the whole refrigerated case, move the cart out of the aisle, etc, etc...haha! But she always seems happier than me when we leave!

The parking lot is a mess of soccer moms so distracted, they can't drive. They come out with carts overflowing and bags falling left and right...

Ahhhhh, I used to go to TJ's for Mississippi Mud. Used to be the only place you could find it. Now, there's BevMo so Trader Bloes gets the bird from JoGo

I was living in Boston for 8 months and got hooked on Trader Joe's products! I've since moved back to Toronto and really miss that store, although it's nice to have access to President's Choice (a Canadian brand) products again.

Oh my Trader Joe's is a NIGHTMARE! I totally agree with you, its always packed. We used to shop there all the time and it really got to me, so I haven't been in ages. Shame too, because the food is great.

Same goes with my Whole Foods. Its impossible to get around in the store. The salad bar has like 50 people around it at all times, and you can never figure out who's turn it is at the meat counter. But since I am a glutton for punishment, and I love Whole Foods more then anything.. I still go.. ugh!

    Carmel Mountain, Grossmont, or Hillcrest.

I have a bunch of friends that live in Carlsbad and are regulars at the one in Encinitas. Bet you'd see a certain rocker's mom there on occasion.

    LOL

I got a bunch of PMs regarding my post and figured I'd respond here as well.

Yes ... in Canada we have a brand called President's Choice. I know we have a Prime Minister and not a President. I'm not the one who named the brand. LOL

I love Whole Foods, except for the overpriced products, which I buy anyway. They make the best Veggie Hummus.

My Trader Joe's has the world's worst parking lot. 10 spots, which only fit 8 SUVs (as I live on Long Island, it's the upper middle class soccer mom's car of choice), leaving no room for me to park.

That falls under the category of "atmosphere". And, I stated I enjoyed their atmosphere.

Yep...I'm with you. I love the store and the food...but the aisles seem so small and crowded. I park in a differnt lot just so I don't have to deal with the craziness.

Yeah, I used to live in North Park so I would always go to the Hillcrest one. I had one of the clerks there tell me it's the busiest out of ALL the TJ stores. Not surprised in the least!

I was recently told Montana should be called "MAN-tana" due to the amount of men that live there. I am SO moving! :D

It's sort of a health foods store.

I'm gonna disagree with the 'health foods' label so as not to scare a lot of people off. While they definitely have some healthy options, the food is jus' plain ol good and unique from anything that you'd get anywhere else. From tamales to Chinese stir-frys, the place rocks, and it's just that though -- a food store. Don't go in expecting to buy paper towels or shampoo or the likes. It's a food haven though, that's for sure. I go to the one in Acton, MA a lot even though it's smaller than your average store. It's less hectic and convenient to where I work. The one near me at home in Framingham is always a zoo, like you mentioned in your initial post at the ones in California.
