Women, what is it with you and bugs?

  • I lived in Southern Louisiana when I was younger and we had palmetto roaches like crazy. We would leave soda cans about a quarter filled out to use as traps. They worked. We lived there for almost two years and I was on the top bunk the whole time. Needless to say, I didn't sleep much, too busy with bugwatch! It was traumatic.

OMG, they have them in Florida too. My Mom had one in her condo, came out of nowhere, it was on the wall and I was screaming myself

It looked like a giant leach

It was SOOOO big. I was spraying it
and I think I got it with a shoe? I showed it to my mom in the other room. Man that thing was BIG.

I can picture you with the shoe! :D

I think someone should make a horror movie that features these palmetto bugs because they are not only big, fast, and ugly but the noise their wigs make is rather disgusting. :p

  • I personally save the little critters and set them free. I used to be terrified but realised it was an irrational fear and got myself out of it.. good thing too, bugs are fascinating! :D

Thats funny, I used to be just as afraid of em as that. But now I save them, and put them outside! Which becomes a Big job since I punched a hole in the wall of our bathroom.

But dont get me started on spiders. I wont kill them (I cant kill anything) but I wont catch them either. They can have my house, I'll just leave and get out of their way :D

Jeez! I get freaked out just by the word. Bees are almost as scary as spiders, but most certainly not a freaky as snakes!

  • don't kill bugs.

set them free outside...you don't need to go through elaborate "traps" just cup your hand and carry them

*note - if it is poisonous be a little cautious*

we are bugs...and bugs are we...so don't squash.

I'm not scared of bugs but the thought them creeping along on me with their many legs creeps me out.

I will not be cupping any bugs. They get the foot. If karma wants to squash me with something a hundred times my size I have no problems with that.

Speaking of cool looking bugs, what a the preying mantis? They are one cool looking bug. This is one bug that I will set free. I swear they are not from this world.

    Just a little cautious?

If I don't know what it is, it will be squished for sure. Try scooping up a ***WARNING some of the pics on additional pages of this link are kinda gross*** brown recluse spider. Let me know how that goes.

I don't mind most bugs - spiders are good as they eat the annoying mosquitoes and such. Mice are fine too. What freaks me out are FLEAS. Makes me itch just thinking about them! We don't have any pets because of the little buggers!

We're having a severe problem with mouse infestation right now. So far we've caught 17...that's right 17!!!!

I just wanted to give everyone an update on our mouse infestation. We're up to a count of 24!

We started using the glue traps...and they are the only thing that's working. The problem is they are HORRIBLE. The poor mice get stuck on them and are alive and suffering. Their legs get all broken and they squirm and squeal. It's awful.

BUT...they work. We caught FOUR (mom and 3 babies) on ONE FRICKEN TRAP.
