Are there any other O's fans out there?

The O's definitely will be the cellar dwellers of the AL East this year. So far I'm pleased with what MacPhail has done, I think he's taking the team in the right direction.

Here's some things to actually look forward to this year at Camden Yards:
- Adam Jones, hopefully he turns out to be as good as he's been hyped
- new video board and scoreboards (including out of town scoreboard)
- taking my daughter to her first O's game

That's about all I can think of. I hope they can unload some veterans before the trading deadline to get a few more younger players in the system.

Speaking of younger players, I hope the O's assign Wieters to Frederick so I can see him play at a Keys game.

I hope BRob gets traded to the Cubs. It will be the last block of the rebuilding process, and it would give him more chances to win. I'm at heart a Yankees fan, but I watch the team that he is on.

I hope Roberts gets traded too. It doesn't matter where he goes just as long as we get some decent prospects in return.

I wish we could get rid of Gibbons, Huff and Payton. The only way that will happen is if they have good first halves. *crosses fingers*

I hear ya, Angelos has screwed up the O's over the past decade. Hopefully he lets the baseball people do their thing and just writes the checks when needed.

    Are you serious?

Please, please, please trade BRob! The cubs have to have a better song than that, you think?

Bingo. Its not a true rebuild until we can unload these losers. Add Mora to that list as well.

I hear ya about Maier. He went to college near Baltimore (Towson or something) and some film student made short film called "I Hate Jefferey Maier" and he appeared in it.

what's the vibe down there regarding the Bedard trade?

I think most people are pleased. Bedard wasn't going to sign extension let alone give the O's a fair shake if he became a free agent. Plus we need a bunch or young guys which is what we got Bedard and Tejada. Hopefully we get a few more for Roberts.

Yup, he should be on the trading block as well. Too bad he's got a no-trade clause and supposedly he would only agree to a deal that sent him to Phillies. Oh well, we'll see.

Adam Jones hit a grand slam in the intersqaud game today. Tomorrow is their first spring training game.

Babe, I love that you're drumming up enthusiasm over here. You know I have hope. Every year! Right? Every fucking year.

I grew up a Brewers fan so I hate the O's (residual AL East old-school hate of course), but live like 4 blocks from the park, and can't wait to head down.

Ah, it must be nice to be in walking distance to the park.

Brewers fans eh? You should be in decent shape this year. You have some good arms in the rotation and a line up with some good young studs.

Perhaps O's vs. Brewers in the 2011 World Series will fuel some new-school hate for the O's.

should is the word I don't like to think about. O's in '11 only if Angelos is gone in '09.

grounded into double play...Paul O'Neil for the Yankees turned this into an artform in his day...he'd have like 20 per year which is essentially once a week.

    So O'Neill sucked too, huh?

no he didn't suck...being critical of parts of different players abilities doesn't mean I don't think they were/are good overall players. That's the equivalent of me saying...boy it sucks that 40 million people in America don't have health care, then automatically arguing that I think America sucks. Your skipping a lot of other aspects that would go into O'Neill being good or bad. The fact of the matter is that when I think of GIDP his name will forever be stuck in my head b/c that's something he was known for doing. In fact, I think it was during a YES broadcast in the late 90's early 00's that brought up the fact that, while a consistent hitter, O'Neill often led the league in GIDP's. Why are you so defensive over Yankee players?
  • I know, I was just fucking around. O'Neill is my 2nd favorite player ever, behind Don mattingly at #1, and ahead of Bernie Williams at #3

I love D-Mat more than any other yankee b/c they have never won a thing with him involved...the curse of Donnie Baseball lives! I also like Bernie Williams b/c he was willing to leave the Yankees for the Sawx when it was not a popular place to go. He is also probably the only person in baseball with as bad an arm as Johnny D who has an arm like a leg, as my old baseball teammates used to say.

    Whoaaa!!!! Enough Yankee talk!

    Back to the O's...

Well they got pounded today by the Marlins but at least Brian Roberts went 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI double, a run scored and two stolen bases.

I hope Chicago likes that :D

A once great franchise with the worst owner in baseball. Last year in July I went to a Red Sox game at Camden Yards and I couldn't believe how many Sox fans were there.

It had to be 75-80% RS Nation, get rid of the owner and this organization can get organized. Especially with area competition from the Nationals in Washington D.C.

I would love to see Angelos go but I would still be happy if he just let MacPhail handle baseball operations.

Speaking of the Nats, I wouldn't mind catching a game at their new stadium.

I've got tickets to a walk through the Stadium in March but I'm down here in S. Florida. I'm going to some Spring Training games in Fort Meyers which will be a lot more fun.

It's that way at every Sawx road game...even at Yankee Stadium (maybe 30 percent but they are the most popular franchise historically). But yes you are right it is kinda sucky that the O's are so hated by their own fans now. Funny thing is the people want to have a reason to go here, 3 years ago when I moved in the place was rockin into the early summer with O's fans.

I used to remember going to Memorial Stadium where the games with the Red Sox were high energy from the O's fans. I almost caught Mo Vaughn's first homerun and I believe it was 505 ft blast out to the right field bleacher seats. The fan that did get it had to return it for some RS goodies. :)

The East Division needs some competition from the O's to light a fire under the Yanks and Red Sox.

I agree with ya. TB has so much young talent that's really starting to click I wouldn't be surprised if they compete for a playoff spot in a couple years.

In two games Brian Roberts is 3/5 with 2 doubles, a walk, 1 RBI, 4 SB and 3 runs scored.

If he keeps this up the Cubbies might need to trade their whole farm system to get him. :D

Well it's opening day 2008 and there's a two page article on the Sun's website about the Crab Shuffle. Ugh.

It's going to be a looooooong season.

At least they cut Gibbons, now trade Roberts!
