just attended my 10 year reunion.....I'll never attend another. Basically, everyone is there to size up where they rank on the success ladder. I started toying with people by the end of the night, saying shit like I dropped out of college, and entered rehab a couple of times. I'm sure it boosted their self esteem.

it's quite funny. when i was in high school, everyone hung out in their own clicks. at my 10 year reunion, it was exactly the same way. but it was just good to see some friends i hadn't seen in awhile.

My 10 year will be coming up next year. Needless to say I don't really want to go.

My friends are all telling me I should go, but the only people I would want to talk to are the ones I already am talking to, so whats the point?
  • I just had my 20th  a couple of weeks ago. After being on and off the fence about going, I went, and it was the biggest waste of my time and $$ that I can remember in a long time. Cant say I ran into one person that I wanted to see, or had anything to say to anyone. Not as much about status as the 10 year, but a waste of time nonetheless.

  • I wouldn't go to mine if I was paid to. I dislike pretty much everyone in my class except for about 4 people, all of which I speak to on a regular basis anyway. It'd be kinda stupid for me to go see a bunch of people I don't like.
  • i probably wont go to mine due to my unavoidable baldness/thinning 8 years from now... i might hire someone similar yet hotter looking to go in my stead and punch a few select people in the face... i dont know what to say to someone after not seeing them over one summer... "how was your summer? you go anywhere? where were you working?"... i can only imagine how generic the conversation at those things are

I'd personally like to go to them. I always have. For a few years after elementary school, we even had annual reunion dinners and those were cool. I wouldn't mind going, especially since with the advent of various social networking sites, I'm having virtual reunions anyway with people from college, high school, junior high school, summer camp and so on.

Spent six years trying to get away from 80% of the people, why would I consider seeing them again?

My 20th is this coming weekend. I just found out about it maybe a few weeks ago. The people who organized it made the same mistake as the 15th - they only used classmates.com and didn't bother to advertise locally. 1/2 of my class remained in the dark ages and never went with computerized world. I think 20% of the class showed last time (out of 250 who graduated) We hung out at the hotel bar and drank. We could have organized it at a local bar and saved the $45 cover charge. I had a great time, saw people I hadn't seen 15 years - some who changed, some who never got over the stupid HS shit. I just don't have a lot of interest going this time. Maybe my 25th?
believe it or not, we don't "need" anything. that is only the spoiled brat in us trying to fill some temporary solution to an emptyness that does not exist.

  • I went to mine and had a pretty good time, but then again, I only graduated with 29 people including myself. That makes a difference. It was still weird, seeing people I hadn't seen in 10 years. But when you have so few people to hang out with and get pretty close, it was nice to catch up!

  • I recently went to a funeral for a friend I hadn't seen in about 15 years (moved to Arizona) and I swear, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
A bunch of us went to a local bar after and after we had some beers in us, a few went on to behave just like they were in high school...Some people never grow out of that stage.

I still see everyone that I would want to see again at a reunion anyways.

I got a letter the other day about a reunion for the school I went to between the age of 11 and 15.

Considering I met a guy from my class back then in a club the other night and nearly ended the night by headbutting him through a window after he started shit on me and groped my friend on the dancefloor, I don't think I'll be attending.

i'd definitely go to mine.. its been 15 years since i made some of them cry with my verbal onslaughts... i'm itching to see them again :D

i'd actually quite like to go to one.

Not interested in the whole reunion thing either.

  • I'm in the process of helping about 8 other people plan a 15-year HS reunion (having it early next month). We set up a website (sort of in the facebook/myspace vein so people can upload pics and crap like that) and we've run notices in a lot of the local papers surrounding our town. It's been hectic but it's also been really interesting.

I used to subscribe to the theory of "I still see everyone I want to see from HS", but I have to tell you, after hearing from some people I haven't seen in 15+ years, I'm kind of excited to go and catch up with them. Granted, there's going to be people there that I don't care to see, but I guess I'm optimistic that most people have grown up and will leave the stupid HS drama shit behind. I know it's not likely, but we'll see.
  • My class was pretty close knit. I still see or at least talk to people that I went to high school with. It's been three years since i graduated and it's still nice seeing people I haven't seen sense then. I feel like our reunion will be a drunken/stoned shit show.

I went to my 25th and had a great time.

NO ONE brought their spouse (that was the key)..

And "some" of the Hot girls were still smoking hot..

Everybody put on weight, some more than other.. big deal
and everybody had experienced some ups and downs but it was still cool to hang..

As usual, alcohol loosens everybody up (I was the only sober person and frankly nobody noticed I wasn't drinking so I still fit in)...

    I'd recomend it ..

I heard that the 10 year sucks and after that it's better. People are more genuine and just want to catch up or meet "new" people. Older and more mature is all.

I don't think these things are all that popular in the UK, they have become slightly more so the last 10 years or so......another thing we've inherited form the US and A :p

btw, I probably wouldn't bother going to mine, if there was one.
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

Absolutely. I still see the few people I did like on a fairly regualr basis, the rest of them I couldn't care less about.

I had a fucking blast at my 20th!! :D Like locked said, copious amounts of booze loosened everyone up. Informal cocktail party on Friday night; dinner and drinks on Saturday and more drinking at a local park on Sunday for those who were still standing. We all seemed a lot more alike than 20 years prior.....

I think you're right on this count...I didn't go to my 10 year, mostly because the organizers had an online chat room (!) set up beforehand and everyone was bragging about their jobs, spouses, vacations, etc. I got the picture.

Come the 20 year reunion, I believe, life has set in; everyone's mellowed, and it's less about mine's-bigger-than-yours!, and more about how's-life-treating-you?
