i use facebook to keep in touch and reconnect with old friends... i love it... i love that ppl can post up pictures... they are much more fun to look at then to read an email!0

But I have found that a lot of people I know can not be found or don't want to be found. For some strange reason I find guys seem more willing to re connect than females and here I thought it would be the other way around. Interesting.I have certain rules I live by ... My First Rule ... But for people to keep in touch.....thats what email and cell phones are for...in my world anyway.
To me, its almost like an open faced email page that the entire world could see.

hmm... it's good to keep in tough with friends/aquaintances overseas
and to share pics (facebook)
And it makes you look cool.
what has started to bug me about facebook is the gazillion of applications it has...y la banda de Guille... cuando toca?0 -

HAHA! My dad and I use myspace to keep in touch with each other. I'm 33 and he's 63.
I like the self-expression part. I also like to see what other people are into, see what other cool organizations are out there that I may not otherwise find on my own.
The band updates are awesome.
Besides, I HATE PHONES, I usually avoid in person contact with people and it's even less formal than personal email. In email, I feel like there should be some worthwhile content, but on myspace or facebook I can send just a quick hello or some silly comment without expecting any sort of response.Walking can be a real trip

I have a my space page that I haven't touched in well over a year.
for me it's too much to keep up with. For one thing I'm always too lazy to upload photos.0 -
The value of MySpace to bands for networking and marketing purposes is priceless.
Plus, I like keeping in touch with people from my hometown.0 -
Life can get busy and you can lose track of your friends that move around a lot...It's just a good easy way to stay in touch.0

I don't understand the obsession with MySpace and only recently even heard of Facebook.
There are these 3 doctors where I work, though, who obviously want to maintain very professional public images but all have MySpace accounts for their personal lives. Two of them have private profiles, but they post on the public profile of the third. They have no idea (not until I recently told one of them anyway) that half the office staff are reading their posts - which say things like "You're always getting wasted and leaving your pants at my house" - and making assumptions that they're sleeping together and spreading rumors about them throughout the office. I hope their patients aren't reading this too.0 -

Hinny wrote:It's a bloody lot cheaper way to stay in touch with my international friends than to pick up the phone. If it's just the one person, from the other side of town, clearly I'll call them. I barely ever facebook with the people on my list who are fellow Sydneysiders. But then there's friends across the wide brown land of Aussieland, in Korea, a whole bunch of European countries, North, Central and South America... the phone bill would kill me.

I can honestly understand the first part of your post. International friends....that makes sense to me.
But the part about it being more personal...I disagree.....its like one of those letter I get from friends that are addressed to everyone. Like a random, "Im going to write one letter to everyone, and that way I feel like Im keeping up."
I hate those, they are so impersonal.
And myspace kinda reminds me of that. Its like saying, "I wont take the time to talk to you personally, so Ill just let everyone look at my myspace and see what I have updated."Turn this anger into

I got rid of myspace. It was too distracting and the only reason I used it was to keep in contact with someone on here when the pit was down.
We would be in the middle of a conversation and 5pm came and the curse set in.
So we would meet there.
I got rid of it because it was not the person I am . I was turning into someone I am not. Pictures, blogs, thoughts and feelings. It really is not me. I am more private than that. And the stalking got out of hand.
So I deleted it.Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
