Vedd Hedd.. Getting the right cam for you depends on a lot of factors.. what size of cam will you want? You say to not look like a tourist, but that's not quite enough info.. Do you want an elph? Tiny like that? A mid-size cam with greater zoom? the SX-IS series is in this range.. anything over that would probably be too large for your liking.. You will give up some features when you give up size, but it's all relative to what you are after and how much you are willing to spend.
I have to say my olympus is fantastic for getting candid shots of people :D

Try some of your settings, such as sport settings, for shooting a moving target. Use program or manual modes and play with ISO and aperature settings.. eventually you'll settle your wiley pup.

some point and shoot cameras (like the canon powershot) have something like a "kids and pets" setting which is basically just like using a fast shutter speed on a manual (as far as I can see) but since it's an automatic, it will automatically adjust the exposure so the photo isn't too dark. see if your camera has something like that.
  • I have a Nikon coolpix S200, i like it though it's difficult to get good pics at night, i know i will find a much better one in two or three months for the same amount of price i paid for this one
I feel very close to you all now; so close I could almost... loan you money. Really. it goes that deep.

I am in the market for a new camera.

I have a Canon Powershot A150, which is 3.2 megapixels, 4Xzoom. Its not a bad camera but I am looking for something with a little more power, yet doesnt make me look like a tourist.

Especailly something I can bring in to PJ shows and tkae clear pictures in low light. (While they are playing low light.)

So, please share. I need to know what to get and would like some advice.

    Thanks!!

ok, my tourist looking camera is a canon 5.0 mega pixels, powershot A610.
hubby is not sure of the zoom, maybe 4 or 6.

    that's funny about low light!!!

I was at a concert once with a kodak zoom lense, one time use camera and I turned off the flash, took a picture of pat mcgee and it flashed by itself. I was lucky I did not get kicked out of the stuck up venue in annapolis, MD.
