PatrickBateman wrote:no shit? What does that cost? Just need a psp and ps3 w/ eye?
let me know if you get it....we still need to finish madden btw:)
The only cost is the cost of the equipment. PS3 (which you have), PSP, and PS Eye. The PS Eye is about $25.
I use the Eye all the time to video chat with my friends across the country...it's also nice in some games (ex. High Stakes Poker)
The PSP and PS3 have a remote play feature that allows you to access your PS3 (videos, music, pics, some games etc.) on your PSP as long as there is WIFI...which is pretty much everywhere now. You can turn on your Eye via remote play and see what's going on too.
Also, I have Media Server set up on my PS3. With that, while on the road not only can I access all my PS3 content, but all the media content on my home PC. Basically I have access to my 3400 songs, thousands of pics, videos, etc that are on my computer anywhere in the world.
Cool feature indeed...
Anyways and sorry to get off topic...I'll pick this game up tomorrow and we'll have to play. Just don't kick my ass too bad...I haven't played a hockey game in years.0 -
got the game yesterday and played it once i got home from work. Absolutely amazing, and be a pro is incredible. I chose my player to be a playmaker but i have 8 goals in 4 games so should have gone with sniper lol... Gotta get 60 assists this season to go from rookie to pro so i think i might change over to sniper since i think it might be a little bit easier to progress through the game.
Are any of you interested in starting a league online? I have the game for ps3 so if anybody else is interested i'll create a league when i get home from work tonight and we'll get this started."I'll ride the wave where it takes me"

I'd be interested! I'm getting the game tomorrow and after a little practice I'd be ready to go.0 -
Havent had a chance to get to into it yet, but it after a quick browsing of the many options, it looks like one of the greatest sports games ever. I'm looking forward to playing one of the multi player games.Brian0

I am a LW 'grinder' w/3 goals in four games. (the only goals my Wolfpack have scored I might add) When you guys are in "be a player" do you sit on the bench and wait for your shift? I kind of like it as I can go grab another beer:)
mca47, I may get a psp now!If a man speaks in a forest and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?0 -

So, I picked this up today and I have to admit that it is a damn good game!
Be a Pro is a ton of fun!
I also have to admit that I pretty much suck right now as I'm learning the controls, but it's still really fun. Graphics are really nice too.0 -
Most "Be A Pro" features in EA games aren't usually that good. Glad it seems like they're figuring it out.
I've only done the "Be A Pro" on FifaNERDS!0 -

I tend to agree, but this is a good one!
So far, IMO only two games have done this well.
NHL '09
MLB: The Show's "Road to the Show"
Everything else is pretty much crap.0 -

I could also use it as an mp3 player to hook up to my e-drums to play along to. I was thinking of getting an ipod anyway. If a man speaks in a forest and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?0 -
So after trying a couple of games against other people on line, I have found that I suck. I haven't played in a couple of years and it shows. I tried one of the multiplayer games, but the majority of the people bolted before the first face off. I also had the game freeze on the "loading" screen one time when trying to play a multiplayer game. The only way to get out of it was to shut down the console completely.
"Be a Pro" is so cool, and appropriate seeing as I need some schooling in the minors to get my game up to par.Brian0 -
Anyone using the 'classic' control setup? If so, have you figured out one timers?
I get open and get a pass, but I end up doing a poke check instead of one timing the shot....it's very annoying.
I can't stand the default setup, but if you don't use it you lose some controls like puck protection and stick lifting...0 -
Ok, so I've been playing "Be a Pro" for a while now and I've got a couple of issues/concerns/gripes.
1) So it doesn't take long before I get to play (RW) on the first line. That's fine, but then my center gets called up leaving me/us with a new center who sucks SOOOOOOO bad!
He wins 1 out of like 50 faceoffs. This makes it really, really hard to sustain any kind of offensive attack in their end. We'll have a great opportunity, sometimes on the PP, and the asshole loses the faceoff...EVERY TIME! I played on the 1st line for about 15 games and my numbers went to shit. I think I had maybe one goal and one assist in those 15 games. Not only does he suck at faceoffs but he's always turning the puck over.
I was pretty much stuck! I wanted him to get hurt so bad, because despite the game announcers always saying "This guy can't win a faceoff to save his life" he started every game.
So because my numbers sucked, I got demoted to the 2nd line (Sweet!). My first game on #2, I get a goal and an assist.
I don't know what to do because my numbers will go up and I'll get placed on #1 and have to deal with a shitty line again. I'm pretty much stuck! Oh and the 1st line LW is pretty shitty too.
2) Penalties!
I lead my team in penalty minutes by a LOT. I try to poke check and I get called for slashing or high sticking.
I'll sit in front of the goal trying to clear guys out of the way and (the only way I can move anyone is to check them) then I get called for cross checking. WTF?
I'll roam in front of the net and the D just beats up on me. They knock me down, trip me, etc. and as soon as I touch them I get called!
3) AI
Some of the things the AI does on my team are just ridiculously dumb.
It's a fun game, but my god it's frustrating!!!0 -

2) I don't get that many penalties, but don't poke check religiously either. I get cross-checking penalties on checks, but it's usually off the play and should be interference.
3) Yeah...0 -
Rygar wrote:1) A bad center shouldn't stop you from getting any points. You can call for the pass, and tell the AI to shoot (R2/R1 I assume) so whenever he gets the puck try and get him to pass it to you asap (get clear).

3) Yeah...
1) That's part of the problem. He turns it over so often and when I try to call for the puck, he'll just pass it straight to the defender. Grrr! I hate that guy! I wish I could take him out!! Then again, it probably wouldn't help my "Team Score" LOL
The first line LW is pretty bad too, but better than the center. He's the ultimate whiff-master. In a game I played earlier I was skating around waiting for a lane to open up. I unloaded a slapshot that bounced off the goalie's pad right to the LW with a wide open net...whiffed it! Then later we had a break away two on none. I was leading I totally deked the goalie to one side, passed it over to him and he whiffed. WTF?!?! LOL
I figure I'm just going to try to buff my stats with the second line as much as I can, gain XP and when I do get put back on 1st line just smoke them all.
One thing I wish this game had that MLB The Show has is the ability to "talk" to the coach.
Oh well.
2) Is there anyway to push back or try to gain ground without "checking"? I'm getting lit up in front of the net!0 -

My AI doesn't sound as dumb as your AI though0 -
Rygar wrote:There is a hook instead of a poke check, but it won't help you gain any ground. Your best bet may be to skate out of the crease and around the net/slot, letting them chase you instead of constantly trying to push you around in front of their goaltender. I dunno how many times I've managed to skate backwards taking the defender with me, and gone around the net and come out the other side open as a j-bird for the pass and goal.

I also think it has to do with the quality of my team.
Most of the guys on my team are in the mid to late 60s.
I'm currently a 79.0
