It was so sad when they were saying "What if that was the last pitch he ever threw in a major league game?'
    :(
At least he ended it with a strikeout.

it was sad to think about. almost surreal watching him walk into the dugout, while the announcer saying 'well, if that was his last pitch...". To think that that very well could have been one of the great pitchers of all time's last pitch? Weird.

This game is getting interesting, now 3-2.

Yeah, it would be unfortunate if the last image we have of Clemens is him limping off the mound in the 3rd inning.

It aint over till its over.

Phil Hughes. What can you say about the kids performance tonight other than clutch?

Now that the bats have woken up, let's hope they stay awake. A little worried about the bullpen for tomorrow. Not sure Joba will be able to go tomorrow night unless its a one at bat type of situation. I think they have to start Moose. Wang on short rest scares me, especially after the way he pitched on regular rest in Game 1. I also like the clutch Pettitte coming back for Game 5 on Wednesday.

    Go Yanks!

    Pfft.
That's a classic line from game six in the '91 WS. It doesn't qualify in this situation.

    That said,

    good luck spankees.

It'll be nice to forget about baseball for awhile after tomorrow night, eh Joe Torre?

I pointed out that up to the point when I made my post, ARod had not struggled anymore than Jeter(or Posada) had in this series, and I posted stats to back up my claims. Considering Jeter has since cost his team a run on defense, and grounded into two double plays, I feel fine with what I said.

Now if you want to talk about performances prior to this series, you may want to think about the fact that without A-Rod this year, Yankee fans wouldn't have to worry about any kind of postseason performance at all.

Using a line like "get a clue" seems a bit silly when your stance will be, at best, debatable.

eveyone forgets Alex had an over .300 avg in the playoffs before. But they always seem to forget that. And when Jeter is not doing well. They go to his past performance. Jeter nearly lost the game today. I predict both will have a big game tomorrow.

  • hmmm, didn't hear much from inmyrvm, DAnimal or drew0 much after the 4th inning tonight, huh? That's odd. Maybe they just went to bed early?

well if that's true he would've asked to be traded last year. he wants to prove he can win here. until he does that he's gonna stay.

big difference between asking to be traded and opting out to become a free agent. he can opt out and command $200 to $300 million on top of what he has already earned. My feeling is, either way I'm ok with it. If he stays, the yankees have a .300, 45 HR 130 RBI 3B for the next 3 years under a great contract. If he opts out, then the team has money to spend in other areas, and he can go waste away somewhere else. They did just fine before he got here, and will survive without him. Cashman has already stated that his days as a Yankee are over the second he opts out, as the team is not willing to lose the $10 million they get towards his salary each year from Texas.
