Richard Zednik of the Florida Panthers had his throat accidently slashed by the skate of teammate Olli Jokinen during a game in Buffalo. So far, he's in stable condition.
Anyone watching the game when this happened?

Glad he's ok and stable.
I love hockey but sometimes you forget just how dangerous it can be...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
How tough does one have to be to get his throat cut, get up, and skate over to the bench.. hockey players got balls.
then after 19 years it happens the next day
un fricking real
i dont care what anyone says
these guys are the sickest and toughest bastards in any sport..by far
football ?? my arse
agreed.. them and rugby players... crazy f**kers!
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
rugby is tough
but they dont have sticks and blades and frozen rubber pucks
not to mention fighting is allowed up to 3 x a game per player
true but rugby players have no padding, studs, scrums and sheer brute force.
I'm a fan of both myself... I loves me a bit of licenced brutality
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
of course
pat dapuzzo caught a bad one on the face sat also
didn't see it at the time but have seen it since... brutal

its like a car craSH, u cant help but whatch it
maybe a kevlar sleeve to wear around the neck, under armour should be making that shit soon.
anything to protect the area
Hockey's a dangerous game and players know this going in, it would be ridiculous to start introducing excessive body armour... imagine how restricted they'd be?!
Nah, I don't think anything mandatory will come of it.

You'll see them a lot in juniors and stuff.
Obviously they aren't mandatory, but they aren't very restrictive or stifling, it's surprising no one wears one.
a piece of padding around the neck is hardly suits of armour
this is something where a player can die ....hands down
i think throat guards should be a must
they are mandatory for small kids
but age doesnt matter when u get a sharp blade across your neck
and that guard isnt too restricting
